trav_555 Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 probs first one mate, what do you want one for? Quote
Roo Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 don't get one unless you have a top mount intercooler Quote
kryton brown Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 I think they both look gay.. unless it's functional, why bother? Quote
Rolla Boy Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Definately the first one out of the two... But I have to agree with the above comments... Unless it's functional, I think a flat bonnet looks a lot better... Quote
Jason Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) imo a little air scoop for the intakes looks fantastic if its done modestly. Edited November 3, 2008 by Jason Quote
toycsi Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) hi guys, thanks for your comments and replies guys. the reason why i want a scoop is for looks as these bonnets/front are pretty plain looking in imo and also to let some cool air in engine bay, can't hurt!! i will cut skin of bonnet when installing it as well. its for looks any way,iv got 17" lenso 5 spoke rims, lowered rite down, dark tint, dump pipe, its looking pretty tuff/nice,so needs some thing on bonnet. but i think these two scoops mentioned are pretty tasteful!! not too over the top. any way i was thinking the same, the first scoop looks a little better and you can bolt this one down from the inside as well and it doesnt look as big/bulky also. cheers glen Edited November 3, 2008 by toycsi Quote
Jono Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 these bonnets/front are pretty plain looking thats because the Csi is/meant to be a shopping trolley for grandma Quote
Jason Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 There are better ways to cool an engine bay than bolting on a ugly scoop (and more efficient). I wouldn't worry about under bonnet temps unless your running hot or got a bit of work done. I guess it's in eye of the beholder i suppose. If you want to get serious about air intakes check out NACA. Quote
mattress Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Ever heard the old saying 'less is more'? I think applying it in this instance would be a good idea... Quote
Redwarf Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Mmmmm NACA ducts. Like inverted bonnet scoops. |blink| Quote
7shades Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) You don't have a top mount intercooler. Don't bastardise your car by sticking a TMIC scoop on it... lest you end up making your rolla look like every other "Got my 18' Vaults and lowered springs at the same time as I stuck the bodykit on with double sided tape" cheap arse bucket of shit shopping trolley. You won't get cool air into the bay with a scoop. You need ducting from down low in the front splitter, directed into your airbox/ricey pod filter. If you want to remove the heat from the bay, you need rearward facing outlets/vents at the rear of the bonnet. Edited November 3, 2008 by 7shades Quote
toycsi Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 I'm fitting this scoop for looks, not for any performance gain ok. nothing wrong with the scoop, its not a big bulky piece of shit that will stand out and look too big for the car. iv seen uglier scoops than the ones i mentioned. and i wouldnt call a csi 94 model a granny grocey getter,it looks better than those old early ugly corollas any day!!!!!! onya hooroo Quote
7shades Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 1. Don't ask for opinions if you're going to get defensive when those opinions differentiate from yours. 2. Try not to alienate yourself from 3/4 of this forum's members by bagging out early corollas. Its not terribly endearing. 3. Seriously... until you start making performance mods to your car, its a shopping trolley. Sticking things on the bonnet will only earn you ridicule... Quote
