David[RL] Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 (edited) I have a strange gearbox.. it doesn't fit any K, T or A engine.. it's a 4 speed gearbox.. with the clutch and starter at the same side.. the speedometrewire is on the *wrong* side.. the bellhousing and gearbox is 1 piece.. like the K40/K50 and a normal gearstick doesn't fit, completely different.. and I'm not sure, maybe it isn't a toyota gearbox? Super Jamie Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 those don't look like any corolla output shaft or gear shifter retainer i've seen. is it cable or hydro? give it a clean with degreaser and a hand wire brush and see of there's any markings on it, every corolla gearbox i've seen has the japanese "TEP" on it somewhere i have the same ratchet handle as you :D Quote
irokin Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 I was thinking mazda when I was talking with David earlier. Its not escort (thats for sure). Quote
Super Jamie Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 and it's not from a hiace van :D i'll check out a corona gearbox and rx7 gearbox on the weeknd for you if i can Quote
irokin Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I would suggest this has a hydro clutch because its the "push" type...unlike the corollas "pull" type. Quote
David[RL] Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Posted March 26, 2005 hmm.. I wonder what it really is the guy I got it from told me it was from a ke70 van with leaf springs at the rear axle and 4k engine.. but it doesn't fit 4k engines do it? doesn't look like that.. Quote
blown 5k Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 My moneys on a mitsy box or a mazda box,i see its a sandwich plate box and yeah it looks like its hydraulic as irokin has already pointed out. :D Quote
ancullen Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 I was under the assumption that all Toyota transmissions had markings on them indicating exactly which transmission it is (eg. T40, T50, W58, etc). This was just an assumption, I haven't really had much chance to check any transmissions out (I'm only a first year apprentice, I don't touch cars, I mop). Quote
TRD ke70 Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 that's a Mazda gearbox out of RWD 323 fa4ts model using at uc or tc engine. NOT TOYOTA. hope that helps. Quote
