Ratty Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 Cool why the 5kc? are they cheap? and are there many floating around? Quote
Ratty Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 wow that white rolla is hot. I think ive seen that before on a web page all credit to him that is a good rolla Quote
irokin Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Not cheap...just bigger capacity. Theyre not exactly easy to find either...but theyre floating around if you know where to look. Quote
Ratty Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 Thanks i scored the rolla for free so i am willing to spend some 2- 3 k on it so could that get me a engine package? i have a hot fours magizene toyota special and it has an advet for ICHIban Performance Engines and theres a 4age 20 valve motor for 600bucks or front cut for 1300 bucks Can i convert that to rwd for my ke35 77 rolla? :D Quote
rjenman Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 4k and 5k are cheap as chips and quiet a few around. ive been quoted 800 bucks for a 5K thats rebuilt from alljap or something, i think that was installed as well, u can do this stuff yourself if u put your mind to it so cheaper still. just ring around some jap or toyota places. i have been pondering geting a 5K for my ke20 which i also got for free... i mean basically if i spend a grand on it thats a grand for a ke20 with a rebuilt 5K! good stuff. man i love how cheap rollas are. just beautiful. anyways just remember if you get a 5k there is less potential compared to 4age.... not that you can't make a shit hot 5k... but k series is easier cos its a simpler kind of engine to work on and a much simpler swap. and cheap. the choice is yours, 4age pwn... ive heard of engines being turned around and converted when they were originally front wheel drive and all that sort of crap, just search through these forums and google. you'll find 95% of the questions you have to ask have been asked and answered and can be foudn for you to read without asking the people in the know for the billionth time in their life. have fun dude Quote
Ratty Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 Cool ill do that sounds like the 5k is a better option then, thanks for the info ill do some more research One more question (lol) Can i get an LSD diff for my model corolla or is it easier just locking the borgwaner diff if possible? Quote
David[RL] Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 I've heard, that the blacktop 20v has dli ignition, so there isn't any distributor.. then you won't have the problem with the firewall Quote
l1ttle_d3vil Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Can i get an LSD diff for my model corolla or is it easier just locking the borgwaner diff if possible? yes you can get an LSD for corollas, depending on what its out of (hilux etc) you may need to get it shortened. ive heard diffs out of ae85s and ae86s fit in without being shortened, just need to change the mounts which isnt too much trouble. not all of them are LSDs though, and when you do find one you pay good money for them. ive got an ae85 LSD waiting to be put into me ke35 (ive just done a 4age conversion on it myself) so I'm yet to find out for sure if they fit in without being shortened or not. irokin Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 T50 bolt on T50s are found on T motors too don't forget.... Quote
Ratty Posted March 20, 2005 Author Report Posted March 20, 2005 What 4age motor did u put in your rolla little d3vil? And where did u get your engine mounts? Quote
l1ttle_d3vil Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 ive put a 4age bluetop in mine. what i done was drilled the old mounts off the 3K crossmember, then fabricated some new mounts to suit the engine mounts and welded them on to the crossmember. where abouts are you based? this is an aussie forum isnt it?! I'm in new zealand but i can email you some more info and pics on the conversion if you like. not sure if the same rules would apply here and in aussie as far as certification goes though. like to pass certs the sump has to sit 12mm (i think) above the xmember etc and that sorta stuff. get in touch with me at [email protected] if you want.
