Depends what is wrong with it in the first place? Could be something simple from a spark plug or lead replace or something harder like a head gasket breach. You need to diagnose WHY it's running on 3 cylinders first before you ask that question.

Good luck

yea i guess that was obvious but i was jst curious of it bcuz ive got exams in like 7 days? and its jst been on my mind.

jst wanted to get a rough estimate like the max cost for the worst case senario. the owner said something about a burnt valve?

dno if that would help but appreciate the reply! thxs btw the owner doesnt know what exactly why its running on 3 cylinders he

hasnt looked at it yet. but i guess I'm gona hav to take it to a mechanic or a mate.

Pull a lead off (with a pair of pliers, don't do it by hand) when the car is running.

If the engine note changes (ie drops another cylinder) then it not that one. Do the same to all 4 cylinders, one at a time, (pull off, then replace, then check next one etc)

Easy way to identify the cylinder that isnt running.

Burnt valve made my missus car sound like a WRX, but so did fouled plugs.

Id be trying everything I could before going to the worst case.

EDIT: sorry, meant to include basics.

Fuel air spark.

If you have all three in all cylinders and its still running like a dog, then its more then likely a valve.
