I have a ke55 with a 4K and its suddenly started to drive like crap! It will not idle unless you keep your foot on the throttle and is very sluggish, it is nearly impossible to take off if you stop at traffic lights up a steep hill. Today I replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter and valve cover gasket. Could it be the fuel pump or the leads, not really sure what to do next?

cheers

I have the same problem with my 4K motor in KE70. It's strange that it usually happens the WORST after a long

distance travelling at higher revs on the highway, or after doing really big burnouts :laff:

It can be pretty bad at times, almost undriveable. I have checked the timing belt and the leads and have

given my carby a good spray of carby cleaner a half-dozen times and it still occasionally occurs.

check for bubbles in radiator, if any youve got yourself a blown gasket, and in about a month you entire block will be full of coolant.

thats what happened to me anyway

Sluggish being lack of fuel getting to the engine? Or too much fuel into the engine? Is there any smoke present from your exhaust at the times it occurs? what colour is the smoke if so.

Could be leads, though do as what other members has suggested as well if the leads aren't the problem.

*Edit* You can tell if water/coolant has gotten into your engine as if you look under the oil cap it will be like of a chocolate milkshake look.

I had same problem but the sounds of things, rough taking off at lights and no power on accleration, this was when i first got my ke70, i noticed that the throttle pump on the carby was missing its clip, this sorted the problem, i put a new clip on and i was running better, altough not too great, i advanced timing a bit, fiddled round with mixture. another problem it could be is possibly a manifold gasket leak, pretty common on these as exhaust mani is steel and inlet it alloy and heat up and different temps and expand, hope this helps
