mr_rolla Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 (edited) I have a ke55 with a 4K and its suddenly started to drive like crap! It will not idle unless you keep your foot on the throttle and is very sluggish, it is nearly impossible to take off if you stop at traffic lights up a steep hill. Today I replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter and valve cover gasket. Could it be the fuel pump or the leads, not really sure what to do next? cheers cam Edited October 21, 2008 by mr_rolla Quote
seabiscuit Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I have the same problem with my 4K motor in KE70. It's strange that it usually happens the WORST after a long distance travelling at higher revs on the highway, or after doing really big burnouts :laff: It can be pretty bad at times, almost undriveable. I have checked the timing belt and the leads and have given my carby a good spray of carby cleaner a half-dozen times and it still occasionally occurs. Quote
trav_555 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 check for bubbles in radiator, if any youve got yourself a blown gasket, and in about a month you entire block will be full of coolant. thats what happened to me anyway Travis Quote
mr_rolla Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 damn I hope its not a blown head gasket, I need this rolla to be a daily driver while I fix the supra. I'll check the timing and points gap on thursday. Quote
WinKE55 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 (edited) Sluggish being lack of fuel getting to the engine? Or too much fuel into the engine? Is there any smoke present from your exhaust at the times it occurs? what colour is the smoke if so. Could be leads, though do as what other members has suggested as well if the leads aren't the problem. *Edit* You can tell if water/coolant has gotten into your engine as if you look under the oil cap it will be like of a chocolate milkshake look. mr_rolla Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 might have a look at the carby actually. I don't think its a blown head gasket, it hasn't made a milkshake and overheated yet. Quote
