Taz_Rx Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 The "random vacuum line" to the ECU is for the internal MAP sensor (so the ECU knows how much boost you're running). It must stilol be using the stock (vacuum reference) FPR. Ok, so you know where the fuel comes into the rail, there should be a return line coming off the other end of the fuel rail. This should come through a little solenoid looking thing with a vacuum line to it - this is the stock FPR. You need to remove it and replace with something like this.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SARD-Fuel-Pressure-...A1%7C240%3A1318 and run a hose to your new RR FPR, then back via the same return line. Falken_KE30 Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Yeah, at the front of the motor there is the intake for fuel.. at the rear is a mini looking mechanical pump... has a vacuum line on top, and i guess the other bit on it is the return line... Quote
Taz_Rx Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 You just found your stock FPR. :jamie: Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Ahh great, well motor is not going into the Ksev intill i got a second car for my daily.. which wont be till late next year. so i got like 10 months to save and get a new ECU, regulators and shit... Ill grab some better quality shots of the motor setup soon. Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 SO, checked the 4k in me KE70 now, it has a double pulley for the aircon crap. now i took the second crank pully off and measured it against the one on the supercharged motor and its slightly bigger. but the belt wall is actually deeper so the belt fits better. will the extra 5mm ish throw out the boost much? Taz_Rx Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Use the formulas Kryton brown posted and work it out! Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 ok The pulley that CAME with the charged motor is 11.2CM in diameter. The pulley that i have OFF a different 4K, is 12.2 CM in diameter. I had a look at the formula and tried it... i give up. i never was good at maths. so any help be great  Quote

I had a look at the formula and tried it... i give up. i never was good at maths. so any help be great  If it works the same on a 4K, to go a (so called)12psi from 5psi it had to be 30mm smaller on the sc or bigger on the crank. Being the boost dif was 7psi for a 30mm change and seeing yours is 10mm diff, divide 7psi by 3 and its 2.3333psi for 10mm puley change. hope that helps. stu. Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 so 2psi more or less? will an extra 2psi hurt that much? Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Might be the aircon pulley on the crank. my new 4k had a smaller pulley on the front, for aircon me thinks Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 yeah the 4k in my KE70 has an aircon pully bolted to the crank pulley. i took it off and tried it on my charged motor and the aircon pulley is bigger then the crank pulley. but it was the same size as the one on the 4k in my KE70.. Just need to know does larger pully add or take boost Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Larger crank pulley or smaller SC pulley = more boost Smaller crank pulley or bigger SC pulley = less boost Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 ahhk, so with the new pulley, i should be around 13psi area Quote
kickn5k Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 ahhk, so with the new pulley, i should be around 13psi area I think it will prob still only be making about 9psi if your using the vbelt. I used the formulas for 12psi and made the pulleys to suit but still only get 9psi for about 20min, then the belt starts to stretch and your lucky if its 7psi. I am using a 13b turbo top mount cooler, Which i chose because past experiences have shown NO more than a 1psi drop in boost so i don't think its that. I'm just going to put up with it for a couple of months until i can decide on either 5pk belt setup or a 1" wide gilmer setup. stu. Quote
