AE80Rollaguy Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) hey guys!! i dunno if its just me or what but it just seams that my car is not as quick as when i first got her.. i have never owend a 4agze so i have no clue what sort of power they should be making.. the super charger seams to kick in at around 2-3psi and i have about 17vac when off the gas... so my boost gague says... it also seams like that i have to give it juat a tad my now to get the supercharger to start working, like I'm talkin about 500-1000 more revs.... like i said it could all just be me.. and i could just be getting used to a quicker car, any comment would be helpfull any any tips on tuning the motor eg what should the timing be ect, or basic upgrades would also give me ideas!! i already have a 2 1/4 zorst if that helps Cheers tory (i need a nick name ) Edited October 20, 2008 by AE80Rollaguy Quote
luke.t. Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) Hey mate. before you put the egine in did you do anythin to it?? for eg. new piston rings/big end and main bearings??? cos if you didnt you may not be gettin as much compression due to worn piston rings... Just a thought as i got a 4K lol Edited October 20, 2008 by luke.t. Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 Hey Luke as far as i know the motor is stock.. i didnt not do the motor swap... Quote
WinKE55 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Supercharger may be getting a little worn? Do you service your own car? like spark plugs, injector clean, air cleaner and etc? Quote
luke.t. Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I see.. how many Km's has it done??? has it had a good service history?? Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 the person who owned it it before me serviced it okish... but as I'm a mechanic i doo my own service's as of yet have not touched the plugs or leads.. have run injector cleaner last week.. the car has done 200k the motor not so sure.. also what oil would i use for the supercharger? and I'm hearing of this air bypass valve mod to keep the boost up... i hit 8 psi quite offten but most time i watch the gague and its seams to want to go futher but just as it gose past 8psi it comes back 8psi (thinking the abv is working) Quote
luke.t. Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 With those sorta Km's there would be some wear obviously. i would also change the spark plugs and see what happens... with the boost i would say you probly don't want to turn it up a heap cos the higher psi you go the more chance of damaging somethin.... I'm pretty sure with turbo's/superchareged engines you use synthetic oil.........(could be wrong so i suggest you ask someone with a 4agze to be sure) Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 the supercharger oil is self contained... Quote
luke.t. Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 the supercharger oil is self contained... ah i thought you were talking engine oil my bad... Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 haha i thought u were thinking that but all in all does all this sound a ok? Quote
Trev Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 You can use castrol vmx80 in the charger, Make sure the inlet hoses arent split, The mr2 i drive had a bad power issue, Found a split hose. Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 thanks for the tip trev!!!! i shall get some of that oil and do it asap... with the hoes's should i be looking for any particular ones? Quote
Trev Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I have to think now as the engine layout is different, It is the rear most intercooler pipe connector, The car still made boost but it wasnt alot, It also had a rough run every now and then but before you do that check to see if your engine belts are tight.
