Hey guys, I have a KE36 wagon and Ive got a hole in my fuel tank and need some information

Does any other fuel tank fit straight up or is a wagon fuel tank different?

Where can i possibly get this one fixed? I just don't wanna blow myself up.

Thanks guys

Unfortunately the wagon tank is somewhat unique as its under the car. Sedans and coupe all have them behind the back seat.

If it is a small leak then you should be able to fix it with a product call "need it", which is an epoxy putter. Fixing fuel tanks is actually one of the things is designed for.

Have you seen the Monster Garage episode where they make the Peterbulit trike? If so thats what they use to fix the leaking fuel tank in that. :)

Yeah its great stuff. Says on the packet its for fixing leaking fuel tanks or radiators so you know its not effected by fuel or heat (within reason) for any other applications. Í've never used it for either of those reasons, I've successfully used it a couple of times to fix leaky turbo oil returns in the sump.

yea thanks for the replies gentleman, i already tried a simular solution with simular stuff called quick steel we use at work. Due to fuel leaking out it didn't want to bond to the metal tank, i eventually got it to, but the fuel lifted it up and kept leaking through it. However, that was with a full tank, i might drain the whole tank dry so it doesn't leak out stopping the need it from lifting up and start again. Thanks again for your replies.

I can't find the pic but all you need to do is tip the car sideways onto two wheels, prop it up with some timber, and weld.

... here is the pic...

hope you mean have the tank empty when using the putty stuff! welding an empty tank is a good chance to go kabloom :laff:

i have read that the best way to weld a fuel tank is to drain it, fill it will water and then weld.. the fumes don't go boom then!

don't weld fuel tanks, steam clean it thourghly, don't under estimate it, and once you have done that, chuck it outside and throw a couple of matches in it, stand back and behind something

seriously I'm a sheety and my dad/ boss has welded up heaps of tanks before, throw an enpty deorirent can in the fire and then times that blast by the ratio of your fuel tank to the deodorant can and thats how big the blast will be, HUGE!!!

steam clean works best i think

Travis, and be very careful
