ke30Rolla myles Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Speed holes son, speed holes. hha yea ay crank the drill out there u go instant cold air intake Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Easiest way to fit a pod filter is to us a carby hat from a liteace. :) Quote
trav_555 Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 didnt exactly want the pod filter cause most cops have a wah at them. but ill just have a pipe go down to an enclosed airbox with a dry pod filter i think. Thanks guys, and what is the liteace part? Travis Quote
philbey Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Just modify the stock aircleaner and run a bit of duct hose down behind the grille. Easy cold air intake! Quote
beerhead Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Lite ace hat is no good on a nikki. If its a gemmi one it's got close to a 3" round opening on the top. I used to run a rubber joiner and PVC drain pipe right angle bend covered in black insulation tape. I just used a rubber pipe off a V6 camry after the bend with a pod on the end. Looked pretty neat and had great induction noise. Quote
trav_555 Posted October 19, 2008 Author Report Posted October 19, 2008 yea its a gemini one, ok souns good, when i get it ill try something similar to that, except ill just make it all out of a 3" aluminium pipe. can i use a dry pod filter or will i be defunked? Travis Quote
godlovesugly Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) i just stuck a little pod filter type of thing straight on top of my carb after my stock air cleaner died(engine is 3tc). i had to hack off some of the base of the filter and drill a hole in the top of the filter for the air cleaner bolt to go through and then it just all lined up perfect, i made a little gasket but i don't think it even needs the gasket, the filter was just a $20 one from repco. ill take a pic when the rain stops EDIT: car also passed rego like this no probs Edited October 22, 2008 by godlovesugly Quote
orangeLJ Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 lagality, AFAIK comes down to original fitment, if it originally had an exposed aircleaner setup, then there is nothing illegal about a POD filter. If it ran an airbox, or similar, then the pod must be enclosed. Quote
trav_555 Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 yea, well will that be classed from the nikki carb or the 4k carb, cause I'm not sure about nikki one but 4k one was enclosed, + a different carbi = defect anyway though don't it? Travis Quote
