hosedogg Posted November 2, 2008 Author Report Posted November 2, 2008 would an sr20det be engineerable? i'm in act. also would it cost anymore then a 4agte conversion? Quote
KE ping it real Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 The other thing i didn't mention is that your also going to need a diff upgrade rear discs and front brake upgrade and also a suspension upgrade and if your wanting to get it engineered (which is the best way to do things) then you have that cost as well So the actual cost between 4agte & sr20det would be quite similar ($6500 - $7500) but if you add all the above mentioned things as well then more likely looking at say $15000 as a nice round figure Hope that doesnt scare you too much but it is a pretty realistic figure :jamie: Quote
cuzzo Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Good to see you boys are now thinking correctly. Definetly the hidden costs are what adds up. time = money and money = time. Quote
hosedogg Posted November 22, 2008 Author Report Posted November 22, 2008 so for just say the time being. if i were to just say want to get the motor in and running for now and not worry about any of the other things just yet, how much would i possibly be looking at just for that? as i already got to go through the engineering with my vl, just want the rolla for now to get the motor and box in and running then once th vl's done i'll go do the rest on the rolla and finish of the rest of it. wanting to go with an sr now as i've decided on an end goal of about 200rwkw. will just start with an sr20de and 5 speed on standard managemant. cheers Matt. tas_ae71 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 SR20 is going to be a lot more reliable than 4AGTE you will most probaly find a standard SR20 (even non turb) will give it a fair bit of zing. don't forget light cars like this don't need any where as much power to move them as say your big boat spec VL.. Quote
cuzzo Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 More reliable than a 4agte? Eh???? My high-comp 4agte with 3rd piston crack still went hard. 4age's arent known to be unreliable. Only when you don't service anything is unreliable. Unless its a 3k. :) Quote
hosedogg Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 yeah i'm more leaning for a sr20 for the sheer factor of bigger motor means more torque :P and i love torque  for the time being i've decided to turbo the spare 5k i got here. but in about a year or so i'll put in an sr20, just an n/a then turbo it after i get used to the sr20 and bored with it lol. all i can think of needing is: motor gearbox loom ecu engine mounts gearbox x member tailshaft fuel pump return line work out something for radiator will i need to bash out the gearbox part (forgot name lol) to fit the gearbox in? orangeLJ Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 transmission tunnel... brakes, diff, suspension? Quote
hosedogg Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 brakes, diff and suspension can be updated later on down the track. i just want to get it running at 1st. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 motorgearbox loom ecu engine mounts gearbox x member tailshaft fuel pump return line work out something for radiator clutch? speedo? exhaust? heater hoses? coil and igniter? surge tank? i could keep going but i don't want to put you off. hosedogg Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 is a surge tank actually needed? also where could i put one in a wagon? it would have to be underneath to be legal? correct? Quote
rollapv75 Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Why expect others to help you, when you won't even help yourself? if i had a tape measure i'd go open the bonnet on my vl turbo lol. Laziness. farout, didn't think it'd cost that much Tightarse. would an sr20det be engineerable? i'm in act. Contact ACT Road Traffic Authority yourself, we don't all live in the ACT. Again, laziness. brakes, diff and suspension can be updated later on down the track. i just want to get it running at 1st. Half-arsed, tightarse, death wish. is a surge tank actually needed? also where could i put one in a wagon? it would have to be underneath to be legal? correct? Half-arsed. Again, contact ACT Road Traffic Authority yourself as laws re: fuel lines and surge tanks differ from State to State. Seriously, sell your Rolla, pimp your "full sik" VL Turbo and stick to the VL/Calais Turbo Forums. You sir, are a muppet. Sam. Quote
