OniBerserker Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 was just randomly searching google when i stumbled on this http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.p...c484ebd8b072091 giving me all sorts of bad ideas :P if it was a bit cheaper... still it has got me thinking would be pretty cool on a 4k or 3tc what do you guys think, would it be much cheaper to try to attempt to build this setup over the $1,340 pricetag? oh what a nissan feeling! Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 4a 20 valve have quads i believe, same with sr20 gtir, skyline gtr i think, and countless 4 cyl motorbikes, you could adapt any of these if you are keen. Quote
reTRD Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 me and a mate are toying/ drawing up plans for this kind of set up over here in NZ atm. using 20V 4AGE items on a custom intake. they will be mounted on the drivers side of the car and have big long intake runners like an injected 4k does, but its all still just getting the ideas tossed around for now to c what is doable  i will keep you posted with the outcome. if any1 has more info on please pm it to me. cheers, Brodie(reTRD) Quote
OniBerserker Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 anybody who has silvertop quad throttle bodies could you measure them for me? even better if you have trumpets I'm just trying to see how much space i have to work with Quote
parrot Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I have some, but it is all academic. It would depend on the width of whatever manifold you were going to run, plus you wouldn't use the stock 'trumpets' as they are shaped to best fit inside the airbox which is configured for front wheel drive. They actually curve downward. If you tried to use this in a rear wheel drive application, the intake would face the firewall. You therefore buy aftermarket trumpets which come in various lengths. If you want the length of the actual throttle body alone, let me know. Quote

philbey Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Some of the microtech stuff goes fairly cheap on Ebay. Quote
Corolla1 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I will be setting up a qaud throttle (EFI) on my 3k soon. EFI will always be better than carby. I will be getting a webber manifold, then making custom throttles, fuel rail, ect. (good thing i got access to CNC) As for the electronics i will be getting a F10X haltech. I will keep you posted Cheers Jarrod Quote
Corolla1 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 ive done more research Fuel System Lift pump and serge tank i will use a JE Camira EFI fuel pump (because its externally mounted) probably 4AE injectors (for now) custom fuel rail Air System webber manifold (for twin carbs) anyone got one they want to sell?? custom everything else Electrical= haltech F10x ive thought of some problems: since its got individual intake runners, there will be a problem with getting enough vac for distributor and brake booster. (unless i put in a equaliser between runners) what size runners?? too big is bad, too small is bad. need a sutiable pressure regualtor/damper need a fuel return line to tank If anyone can think of anymore possible problems, Please post them Cheers Jarrod P.S heres a pic of the car i will be putting the gear on... If you are going to upgrade your pressure line, the return line must always be equal in size. :lolcry: Quote
reTRD Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 i have looked into this more and we are making 1 for my new 5k set up. thus far i am useing 4age silvertop 20V ITB's(43mm) they are goingto be mounted in the drivers side of the motor with a custom made 4k-eu type manifold for good tourque , with direct port injection via 100kw redtop injectors and standard fuel rail and FPR. i am getting all the manifold flanges custom lazer cut at the moment. we are making some custom tuned lengh headers (4/2/1) feeding into my excisting exorst system. we will be converting to solid lifters, not to sure on what spec cam to use at the moment but i lould like to keep the 1 i got as it is as lumpy as hell (check out my youtube vidin my profile.) ignition is going to be done via coil packs and the whole set up is going to be run via a link ecu ( as they are local to me here in NZ) all the head work is going o be custom with bigger valves and stronger valve springs. we will also be looking at giving it an over bore and try see if we can get it closer to 1600cc. fueling will be done via an external pump out of a common as hell VL commodor. that is about all i can think of for now but i will keep you all posted as to how this all pans out :P cheers, Brodie(reTRD) Quote
ogre6br Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 when I was looking at this in the early 90's for my ke55 I found that the trumpets for the same era nissan micra had the injectors in them and were an easy adaptor fit to a multi carby inlet manifold forget if it was a DCOE or the other one or the one for del'ortos or waht maybe you can re-drill the manifold to suit the micra trumpets or the trumpets are a close fit nad just need the holes hog'd out a bit it's a heap of years ago and the brain is fuzzy if you want it for a 2TG motor I have a complete TRG 2TGEU sitting in the shed if thats of any help most of the rngine wiring loom is still there- espcially the injector loom got a clutch connected to it an all I think the trumpets are a bolt on fit to the 7K manifold- but thats really straining the memory surge tank equiped fuel tank was coming out of a celica or something later P Quote
OniBerserker Posted December 13, 2008 Author Report Posted December 13, 2008 4age is looking a hell of a lot cheaper than messing around with k motors though k motors do have a nice sound, power and revs are the limiting factor Quote
