Hiro Protagonist Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 one more thing. get your own ideas! that audi boat thing was a pitiful attempt to copy the uk versions amphicar challenge. paddock bashing was a good original idea, why can't you come up with more like that? Hey, whilst they did copy the Amphicar bit, at least the Audi worked a lot better than some of the contraptions the UK guys have come up with. It floated, it didn't sink (the bilge pump no doubt helped there), the outboard propelled it at a modest speed once the ballast and balance issues were sorted, and the car even started first go and drove up the boatramp out of the water. KEhendo Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 true, but it was an 'all your eggs in one basket' thing. if the uk guy's all worked on the one car it would have worked fine. Quote

You reckon they actually worked on the car? Most likely they pose for convenient little bits of video, and get other people to bodge up the rest. Notice how the TGAu one only showed a couple of sparks coming out between some garage doors, no actual footage of _anyone_ working on the car, let alone the presenters. Quote
KEhendo Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 now that i think about it. i don't think any of them have held a spanner in there life. even in the paddock basher challenge i think i only saw the presenters painting there cars. never actually doing any mechanical work. i vote for new presenters. perhaps some of the many thousands of people that sent in videos who aren't T grade celebrities. how about some real people? I wouldn't call any of the current presenters "celebrities". The only celebrity status they would have achieved would have been from this show. One is a cartoonist/journalist, one is a motorsport commentator and the third is an advanced driving instructor. Quote
KEhendo Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 they are T grade, i have heard of warren brown and charlie cox, but not steve (can't spell his last name). warren was part of the peking to paris show on the abc a while back. he's also been on some other show talking about his car collection. but yes none of them have been seen by 90% of the public. towe001 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Notice how the TGAu one only showed a couple of sparks coming out between some garage doors And here i thought that was pretty good Hearing the grinder screaming its head off as it ripped through some metal. Watching the sparks flying out of the building. Bits of the car getting chucked out. As with the diesel thing of using less fuel. Personally i think its just all hype. Yeah sure these has been a fair bit of advancement with things like single rail direct injection and computer control. When its compared to, say, the new model corolla with its 1.8lt vvti you beut 100kw donk, yes the diesel does use less fuel. But so does the red top 4age which also gets 100kw. Yes i do like diesels but i don't believe the hype they're saying about it. As for the show itself, i think its getting better. Its got a steep climb if it has to be the same as TGuk, but its getting its own personality, similar styles but its own personality, which i think is a good thing Quote
Budowski Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 rumour top gear aus getting the sack and top gear uk getting the nod ?? Quote

Yes i do like diesels but i don't believe the hype they're saying about it Remember that a modern Golf diesel weighs probably 3-400kg more than a 4AGEd AE82, thats 40% more weight to lug around. And diesels really excel at long distance cruising, where you just set and forget, which is why they work so well in Europe. That, and diesel is relatively cheap over there compared to here. rumour top gear aus getting the sack and top gear uk getting the nod ?? All sources I've seen seem to point to a second season already being confirmed, TGUK is coming back because TGAu first season is almost finished, was only ever going to be 8 episodes first time around. Kinda like what they used to do with Mythbusters and TGUK, rotate a season of one followed by a season of the other Edited November 11, 2008 by Hiro Protagonist Quote
soyboy Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 YAY! I'm sure you dudes already know this by now ( I can be slow on the uptake) but UKTG is back on air next Monday at 7.30pm :jamie: Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) Thought I'd ressurect this thread for opinions on TGAU - Season 2...... :D Much better than last year, I genuinely laughed a lot more. James is heaps better than Charlie, but that may be somewhat in the fact that he's obviously not trying to be a "Jeremy". Warren seams to have taken over some control, but its still fairly shared. James' school girl giggle on the jet-ski was hilarious. I wanted to kick Warren when he introduced the "What were they thinking wall", then wanted to shake his hand when they dropped the moke on it! :jamie: "trampoline add" re-creation was funny as. Did anybody else get the opinion that the double bass belonged to Steve? Oh and nearly forgot..... How funny was the look on Skaifey's face when Warren told him the first time slower than the other 2!! like he said, he really did look like you was going to up-end Warren for his chair! So what did everybody else think??????? Edited May 12, 2009 by Taz_Rx Quote
KEhendo Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 i loved it. skaifey's face was priceless! the thing i loved the most was steve trying to pronounce moosia-lago. :D Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) the thing i loved the most was steve trying to pronounce moosia-lago. :D He got it right though when he started using the Spanish accent (it is a Spanish name, means the Bat) Edited May 12, 2009 by Hiro Protagonist Quote
36panvan Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Skaife's face was hilarious :D , tho I did wish he was slower than Murph and Courtney. It was better than season 1 episode 1. Quote
