rundell Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Well ive just added my turbo to my 4k and now when i turn the key on the ignition it turns over for a few clicks but sounds flat but the battery is charged and i have also tried jumpstarting it and it still wont click over properly :y: Does anyone know what the problem could be? help would be appreciated because car wont start Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 step 1. Purchase and/or connect your volt meter. what is the voltage before and during crank? a battery can also be fully charged and have weak battery acid, purchase a hydrometer and check the battery acid's acidity/specific gravity. Check with your volt meter what the voltage is from the ground side of the battery to the main battery post on the starter motor. check voltage drop across the positive and ground sides of your main cables. lots more tests you can do but they are the basics.. rundell Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 ahk i might try that test but its not the battery tried battery out of amtes car aswell and even jumpstarting i was looking around at another topic and something about the ground wire from engine to chasis might not be right. everything e;ectrical works but car wont turn over propaly i might try that test tommoro Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Yeah, Check your engine gound wires first.. Quote
TE278U Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 in some earlier rollas wiring, there was no relay to the starter motor. chuck one in and this could help get all the amps from the battery to the starter motor. otherwise consult an auto elec, they'll probably give you the answer accidentally before they charge you for any work actually done. g/luck Quote
rundell Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 Where is the engine ground wires? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Should be one on the driver side front corner of the motor, and one at the back from the lifting hook to where the bracket for the brake boost 1 way valve is. If not put both of these in. NOW....Have you forgotten to mention that the battery is now in the boot? as it won't fit with that tubo kit!! :y: What size wire have you run down the car? Is the new earth from the battery to body decent? Quote

But i shall try with the earth wires now and hopefully that works if not ill just call RAA and say i broke down haha and they should fix it Quote
rundell Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Ok both ground wires are connected but still wont turn over :y: i just wanna see if it runs :hmm: haha Quote

Taz_Rx Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Running with the exhaust plumbed through the turbo? The spool whine on that thing sounds great! :y: Quote
rundell Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Running with the exhaust plumbed through the turbo? The spool whine on that thing sounds great! :y: haha nahh about a half a metre gap between the exhaust and the dump pipe, gotta get a new exhaust soon yeah that spool whine sounds sick. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 haha nahh about a half a metre gap between the exhaust and the dump pipe, gotta get a new exhaust soon yeah that spool whine sounds sick. Yeah with it just out of the dump pipe you'll get an off boost (spooling) whine and and it'll sound like it has a screamer pipe on boost. I had a very quite 2 inch system with that setup, which lost the spooling whine, but that had an on boost whine (sounded sort of like a small electric motor). Was cool flicking the boost controller when you were already at gate pressure cause the electric motor sound was like somebody put 24 volts into it instead of 12v. :y: You'll find out soon enough what I mean. Actually you can hear it whining away in these vids, which is with the full quiet exhaust.... http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ay9iZ3kdhc http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=nnpGxTUWPVA&...feature=related Quote
rundell Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 yeah i know. i should get an exhaust soon, just gotta fix turbo before i drive it cos oil and coolant keeps leaking out of the turbo. Quote
