Da-view Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Hey people i'm pretty new to this but here goes i've just recently bought a 1974 celica and was lookin to put a turbo engine in it i was lookin to get a 3tgte engine but i can't seem 2 find the engine anywhere is there any other engine yous could suggest? and a rough estimate on how much it would cost would be really appreciated? :y::D:D:D Quote
Sam_Q Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 you ok with a nissan engine in there? Quote
Sidewinder Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 how about a 3sgte instead? they are plentiful amongst the importers and arent too hard to get parts for as they share the basic platfom with the camry/celica motors of the early nineties Quote
Sam_Q Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 not a real easy conversion though Quote

Sam_Q Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I can't don't like it myself but a ca18det engine with the stock ecu will probably be the best bang for buck. If your keen a 5S/3S engine converted to turbo spec would be a ball tearer. Quote
Sidewinder Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 being 17, are you affected by some states anti-fun/hooning laws? if so, you will have to stick with the K motor for a while Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 being 17, are you affected by some states anti-fun/hooning laws? if so, you will have to stick with the K motor for a while He has a Celica, so it'll be an R-series engine most likely, maybe an S or a T (not great on my Celica years) Quote
Da-view Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 being 17, are you affected by some states anti-fun/hooning laws? if so, you will have to stick with the K motor for a while yeah don't mind that law i'm doin the car up and it'll be in my dad's name but i am still gunna turb it Quote

Redwarf Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 yeah don't mind that law i'm doin the car up and it'll be in my dad's name but i am still gunna turb it It doesn't matter who owns the car. If you can't drive it, you can't drive it. If your in Qld and don't have it engineered, it's go to court time for him, and loss of license for you. Quote
Sturgey Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 well for the ta22's the most common conversions are 2t-g, 3t-gteu, 3tg hybrid or a 4age Quote
Sam_Q Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 well depending on which gearbox it has in there a 4age will easy go in, probably a nice cheap option Quote
