TE278U Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 hmmm, TE278U i do like this idea.....how much would it be for a set of 4??? not sure of this, but wouldn't these be available at pretty much any hardware.... Cheers hiya, i work in a nut and bolt shop, we also sell industrial supplies. bolts would cost about 8 bucks at the most, and adapter would be 6 bucks ish in a 3/8 square drive. these are best for low clearance applications. and they're f'n strong. we've probably got them in stock, and could airbag it all to you for another 10 bucks. you'd see it the next day. what is the current head size of the bolt you're using? -dave Quote
dfunkt Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 dave, altho there's not much clearance for getting a bolt in. there's also no room to get at the bolt the way you're talking about. there's maybe an inch of space between the manifold and the runner for the bolt to go, with side access being the only way to get at it (this is for one, maybe 2 of the bolts) not only that, but it's the one closest to the firewall, so you don't have much room to use a long spanner, hence why people cut down an el-cheapo open end spanner. TE278U Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 another way of tightening allen key bolts is to cut about 16mm off the right size allen key, then put it in the corresponding ratchet spanner, that would be only a spanner height taller than the bolt. a picture of the manifold setup would help if you want the most accurate help. i deal with bolt problems all day every day, so i've got a million ideas to solve fastening related problems. -dave Quote
