Gspec Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) A few doors up from where I work is a guy that collects cars for scrap. Everyday when i go pass i check out what he has... on Thursday morning i noticed what looked to be a KE70, so i stopped in, at closer inspection it turned out to be a TE72. Unfortunatley he had stacked another car on top of it and caved a roof a little, pushing the front rail down 3 inches, pulling the side rails in an inch and smashing the windscreen. It has minimal rust, the interia is in good condition and the car is completley unmolested. I had a bigger, heavier old shitter that needed removal so we did a straight swap. :) POO BROWN Porn interia Roof after initial correction. No mods planned as yet, just gotta get it roading first. First thngs first, get the roof schminty, replace tyres, drivers seat belt, bonnet and windscreen.... oh and a good tidy up. Edited November 2, 2009 by Gspec Quote
Kid-Ae Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Oh no not another car.. GSpec abandon a project? Nah mate wouldnt bet on it. :) Quote
Gspec Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Yes i'm letting go of the KE70 project, its just too much work and too much rust. PLUS I love the rarer cars... Datsun VB10, 200B SSS coupe (both are in progress also) and now the TE72. Quote
Chobis Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Hell yeah !!! Agree with you on going with the rarer option. Still sounds like a lot of work though. Quote
machg Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 - around 1 minute mark :) - might be easier, LOL Quote
Ke ping it reals wifey Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Now if you feel like getting rid of that rear bumper or the passenger side lights I might just be able to assist you there :) Seems like there is some work in that - a lot more than in mine but hey it's all fun and games right? Can we see some more pics? Quote
Gspec Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 - around 1 minute mark  - might be easier, LOL Yeah... no thanks...Roofs ar better. Now if you feel like getting rid of that rear bumper or the passenger side lights I might just be able to assist you there  Seems like there is some work in that - a lot more than in mine but hey it's all fun and games right? Can we see some more pics? I don't see how selling parts will help get it finished :hmm: But if you're after side lights, i believe they are the same as KE7*'s All the work is in the roof, everything else is just plug and play. The plan is to eventually hunt down another roof and do a transplant.... Maybe galss one up.... nice and easy :D Quote
Gspec Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 Checked out the booklets from the glove box. What a little gold mine, it contains the service history, reg history and ownership history. The only thing it doesn't have is the original price. It will soon be back on the road, just got to source a few parts and the love will continue. :) Quote
Gspec Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 Got my new windscreen today, brand skankers, ready for urethane! Isn't it SEXY!!!!! ;) I used it to makes sure my windiw line is correct. Once the roof is done i will be stripping the paint around the windscreen then hitting it with some POR15, that way the car can bere-sprayed without needing ever remove the windscreen. :lolcry: Damn i;m looking forwards to driving this car around :) Quote
Gspec Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 The T18 now has a new home.... Now there is space to move and although the shed still needs organising, work has re-comensed on the Mr T. Thanks to gearb0x i now have a new roof. The old roof was just too stretched and the front roof support rail was comprimised. De-stitched both roofs, discarded the bent one, rust treated new bits, aligned the new bits, welded new bits on... just gotta bronze fill the joins. Soon it will be in primer. Thanks to Julzy the Rolla pimp i also now have a 2nd T-bird Not sure exactly how i'm gonna work this though getting 2 T-one-eights cooking is looking like a plan to be had. Sadly neither car has front seat belts to my liking, so offers of help are welcome. :jamie: Quote

Gspec Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 Hey Chops. Yeah bought a house, got a realy big shed  For now just focusing on getting the brown T18 road rollin. The yellow can wait. Whats the deal with yo Rolla??? Quote
Gspec Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 Now that i'm on holidays, I finally got to do more work on the roof. Also removed some panels, rear bumper, tow bar, tail lights...etc.. to prep known problem areas for rut prevention. Its just about ready for the P.O.R 15, which will no doubt take a few days due to Christmas caos. Quote
Gspec Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 Between painting my house and building a rabbit palace, i managed to Metal Ready the TE72's known problem areas. Roof, gutters, boot lip, tail lights, wind lips..etc... It sure looks nasty hey, but thats how its ment to look. The Metal Ready not only nuturalizes any rust it also treats the panel with zinc phosphate... Zinc panels are highly resistant to rust. My Datsun 1000 wagon, which was factory zinc treated, has no rust and its a 40 year old car. NEXT: will be the P.O.R 15 rust preventative paint. ;) Quote
