So I just got my open motorbike licence.

I felt a pressing need to do so, as it seems no matter how hard I try, all these fast cars aren't getting me any closer to my eventual goal of a painful and firey death... one truly worthy of being used in a government anti-speeding ad.

So... now I dunno what kind of bike to get...

Any riders amongst you lot? Show me what ya got and why you like it!

i don't ride, the only time i've been on a bike was being a passenger on my mates ZXR750, the morning after my bucks party still pissed as a fart.

my bro-in-law keeps buying Yamaha R1s so i think they must be pretty kewl.

1994 Suzuki RF600R is my bike, fantastic fun in light traffic :) A 600 is fast enough to scare yourself or do your license, but for ultimate fun any of the jap 1000s would be the best. Think twice before buying an R6:

For the type of death you're looking for I have a few suggestions........

For Super-high-speed-slam-into-wall-fireball death:

Option 1: The Suzuki Hayabusa, get one that pre-dates the electronic speed limiter and you have a 200Mp/h+ death machine between your legs.......But they don't handle that great.

Option 2: Kawasaki Ninja ZX14, good for 186 Mp/h+ (depending on age, read: electronic limiter), handles better than the Hayabusa, and looks prettier too.

For a balance of speed/handling:

Kawasaki Ninja ZX12R: The fastest production motorcycle over the quarter mile (last I heard was a 9.52 @ 146 Mp/h standing quarter {pro rider} before the europeans stepped in and started bitching about bikes being too fast - Hence the 299Kp/h speed limiters) Very fast on a track, can get niggly on the road.

Honda CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird: The fastest of the "Super tourers", 286 Km/h, with decent ride comfort and good road manners, handles well for a larger bike, and is very fast for it's size and classification.

For one interested in track days/Overall handling(1 liter class):

Yamaha R1: Noise, speed, handling, nothing compares, it's fast, fun, sexy. Say no more, best in it's class.

MV Agusta F4 1000: Something different, possibly the single sexiest bike in existence, handles a treat, and will leave many larger (and quite a few smaller) bikes well behind, this is the only bike I'd pick over an R1.

Under 1 liter:

Ducati 996 SPS: The ferarri of motorcycles, big, red, fast. The noise is epic.......

Honda CBR 954 RR Fireblade: A better bike than the model it replaced, it's easier to ride, faster, and less likely to throw you over the handlebars under race conditions.......

Suzuki GSX-R600: Deceptively quick for a 600, it's lighter than a lot of the other bikes here (obviously), but improvements to the fuel injection system has made it into a proper weapon, very violent sounding things these, but it's not an unpleasant noise, see also the Yamaha R6.

Think twice before crashing an R6

Fixed.

Hope that helps a bit........

I stopped trying to get cash together once for Q ride. Got a private road lesson etc got Bike L's etc But lost interest really to slow.

But rode a few bikes on the quiet :D and R6 is my fav But and R1 is also nice. Yamaha range I am a fan of.

Just remember planning on riding often to say work...Sports bikes your very hunched over can get uncomfy. But if your not who cares sports bike all the way.

I think I'm leaning towards a cruiser.

My old man has a Triumph Speedmaster which is incredibly comfortable to ride... Plenty of torque too...

Although, I can import bikes from Japan just as easily as I import cars (easier in fact) and some of those scary colourful crotch rockets do look pretty damn impressive...

Bugger it, its gunna be just like my bloody cars. One isn't going to be enough... Grrrr

ive had my fair share of bikes...mostly off road though

started off on a suzuki DR400 when i was like 12...stopped riding that after i got trapped under it alone in the bush..had to drain the tank and push it home to get it off me!

then i decided a lighter bike would be better (and the Dr had seized by the time i started riding again) ..so i had the other end of the scale, a honda cb100 roadbike from the 60's (felt like it anyway) that i used to thrash along bush tracks. followed by my first 2 stroke bike, a TS-185.

now i have the obligatory cb250 (retina burning orange) and a something-or-rather ex army 900cc trailbike

Congrats, I also recently got my full motorbike license...

I don't have a bike, but my boyfriend has a 2003 model R6.

Nice bike!

They're a great looking bike and my boyfriend tells me he was able to keep up with bikes of 1000 cc upwards when he went for a ride one day.

Plenty quick, great looking bike, relatively less expensive than some other bikes, I've noticed when I drive behind robert riding he's not actually that hunched over...

Ducati's are awesome bikes, but from what I've seen and heard they're quite expensive, but they are a very nice sounding bike, I'm not sure about the squareness of some of them though...

Triumph Daytonas look nice, I'm not sure how they go or what they're like though, and they haven't been around that long so they may not have ironed out any kinks yet??
