skd30 Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 cheers seabiscuit. Here the holes all fild up with fresh metal...much better that the fiberglass rust and bog that ust to be there.....have decided i suck at welding though lol. Did this on friday, finished wire brushing underneath today and started on the bog work over the plates. should see it rolling again tomoro, hopefully with box through to wheel back one, at minimum the back end under again. anyway heres pics And this i why my sander stopped working, someone at work had electrical tape over it lol, must have just kept getting worse under there. just after i took this photo i forgot it was still plugged in and touched it...made me jump haha Quote
JiP Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 WOW you look really tall lOl Man that diff is looking great. Your doing an awesome job. I was thinking about working on mine today but the heat was too much lOl Quote
skd30 Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Lol I'm a lanky 187cm tall. Yeh the heat doens tbother me to bad, i got a fan in the shed, keep me a little cooler lol. Plus I'm out at tamworth a bit and it twice as bad as here So i didnt get all the stuff doen ide planned but did some other stuff. Ran out of tar half way through doing the back half od the car so i had to go to town. 25 mins each way and stuffing around in town lost me a bit of time but aww well. Ended up gettign it all sprayed under there nice and thick. then cleaned up my gearbox and brakes with the good ol wire wheel. threw a bit of bog over the weld under the back jsut to keep it looking smooth, came up pretty good. heres some pics as usual. Not sure if i should paint the calipers red like th ecar and em stand out or just leave em bare...any thoughts? Also does anyone have a spare rubber plug for in that hole where the fork comes out? its 76x43mm in size, its a 5 speed box, not sure what off, i took it out of a ke38 but its not originally from there. Oh-KE Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Awesome build mate! I love the rims you got on the 55. What are they called and where did you get them? I want :P Quote
skd30 Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 sorry no idea what there called, i pulled em of a wagon i got off a guy in sydney early last year. He said he got em form a wreckers in his forsale thread. that also where i got the 5 speed box and the camber tops on ke55 struts from. Ill be putting em on the ke30 when its done and ive got some jelly bean 14's for on the 55 i think ill put on, just trying to find some cheap 2nd hand tyres for em (impossible at the tire places around here it seem). this was the wags bloke had huge tires on the back with i got changed for same size as fornt...thought the drag car "look" looked shit on it. Taz_Rx Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Here's one of the GB rubber boots you desire..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-KE30...=item5189273a59 FYI - Thats ones from Phil's Rotaries not Malaysia. Also with the calipers, if you want to leave them looking like that in bare metal do yourself a favour and paint them in some clear coat. That way when they do get coated in brake pad dust it will be a lot easier to clean up again. Oh and if you do paint them also make sure you use "Brake caliper and drum paint" as this won't peel off due to the heat generated by the brakes. :lolcry: Quote
skd30 Posted February 25, 2010 Author Report Posted February 25, 2010 Got a bit more done the yesty and today, put the back end under again, brake lines and fuel are under as well. pulled the struts off and gave the a couple of coats of rust guard. Also cleaned up my master cylinder. decided I'm gonna spray the brake calipers so gave them a hit with primer along with the boot lid and front apron (the last bit that needed to be done) and finished off the rear quarters. and here some pics Quote

Didint read your post early enough so they have 2pack primer on em now, ill just spray em and when it peals off take them off brush them and spray them in the right stuff. but thanks for the tip. skd30 Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 Awesome work mate. Good to see you'll keep trying to stay enthused when you're back at Uni. Stunning job :hmm: yeh seabiscuit, ill try my best but i don't think itle be a problem. I'm way to exited about getting it done and being able to drive it to let it sit to much longer. but just figured out i wont be able to work on it for 2 to 3 weeks now, but thats when ill be spraying the inside so after that happens ill pretty much put the whole inside back together. New black carpets on the way and some brake parts for the back drums and some new bearings. The immense speeds of updates and progress astounds me! Wish i had the facilities to be able to do that. Looking the goods *looks for subscribe button* will def look forward to seeing the end at least painted product. Karl. As do I Quote
