4k Idling Issues

Hey guys i am havn a lil trouble with my stock 4k it wont idle steady it keeps jumping from 900rpm to 700rpm ad is somethines causing itself to stall this is a real problem and makes the car surge wen not under acceleration so pretty uncomfortable i have recently replaced the spark plugs and points any help would b appreciated thanks.

Have a check for air leaks around the intake manifold and the base of the carby.

have just replaced the gasket and no one bolt is missing wuld that be a big problem???

My old 4KC used to idle funny too...

 

 

I learned to live with it

 

yea i could do that but thea has to be a reason y its doing it i just want to fix it.

Have ya done the Timing with a timing light. As my 4k use to do what your describing. :jamie:

 

If timing doesnt work, losen off the 12mm bolt holding your Dizzy in place and slowly turning it clockwise or anti- clockwise

till you hear the motor running smoothly, be paitient coz the difference of a degree can change the idle.

 

when the engine starts running true, then then you shouldnt have a problem with surging.

 

Another thing that could be doing it could be your Mixture is to rich/ lean. have a play is your best bet. :P

i had this same problem except my car didnt start lol.

i had a gasket missing from the top part of my carby,

new gasket and it was running perfect again.

had the same problem this weekend, turns out it was a I a hole in the inlet manifold a big one. :D
