mitch4397 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Driving home late one evening the other night from the eastern suburbs to the south. I was just admiring how good corollas really are. Ive owned 2 previous corollas AE82 4ac and Ae82 twin cam, both terrific run abouts. I was admiring how well the KE20 handles, how tight the engine feels when shes warmed up, how smooth the ride is, how little the interior rattles (probably cos it has none haha), how great the heater runs, how it never breaks down....the list goes on!!!!. IT made me think....no wonder the corolla is the best selling car on the planet. Is this why every1 else here drives a corolla? i know ill stay toyota until i move on to european later in life. wanna hear people's thoughts on why they love the rolla's! Cheers Quote
benzo Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Well I've had 1x KE70, 1xKE30, and 4x KE20s and yeah they're great little cars. Never had one let me down, they're easy as piss to work on, go pretty good for what they are, sound pretty ace with just an exhaust, and they can look pretty f@$kin sik. Thats why I have owned and I'm sure will own many more Rollas haha. Also no expects the little nanna car :sob: Cheers, Ben. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I've had 1 AE102, 2 KE55s and 1 AE82. Well, the AE102 has been essentially given to me (it was my dad's car), can't see myself selling it because there's no need to - it does everything I want it to do, relatively cheap, now has decent go due to intake and exhaust, some suspension mods and it'll be fine for track and hillclimb days. The KE55 (technically only one, the second was a parts car) was bought for my g/f, 1) because it was a birthday present, 2) because it meant I wouldn't be a taxi anymore, and 3) because it shut her up. Oh, and it was cheap, and she liked the colour. Only ended up getting sold because it was costing too much to keep it going through rego (stupid rust and exhaust). The AE82 was bought because my g/f wanted a bigger car than the KE55, preferably a liftback, and she always wanted a Seca. The fact it was 4AGE'd just sweetened the deal. Although there's still it's fair share of problems with it, but you grow attached to your cars no matter what they are, just happened that all our cars have been Corollas. Quote
Redwarf Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) Day to day I don't. I like reliable aircon that doesn't stop the car when I turn it on. Cruise control I also can't live without. I can also fit biblical amounts of crap in my daily driver, and then take it wherever the hell I please. It doesn't break down, the heater works (always) and I don't have to worry about the police and modifications. I don't have to turn my CD player up that loud to hear it. Nor do I have to worry about chokes or carbies, points, dizzys or spark plugs for that matter. I can get in it and KNOW that I can drive BNE- MEL- BNE and only have to look at the fuel guage and nothing else. They make great little race cars, but. :sob: Edited August 29, 2008 by Redwarf Quote

Apart from the odd tiny niggle, my 102 has given me no problems whatsoever, and thats more than you can say for your average new Commodore. Edited August 29, 2008 by Hiro Protagonist Quote
h1_roll4 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 my first car was a ke70 panno. i crashed it into the wood pole that are around parks, 2 weeks later rolled it onto its side at 80ks, week later cut the back end off and made it a ute, held it an redline alot/changed gears really really late, week after that took it to the bush and jumped it into a tree. after all that, it still started and drove fine. I'm up to my 5th ke70 now Quote

Des Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Remind me never to buy a car off you... I don't sell cars in one piece anyway. The ke70's and ae71's that don't get flogged are owned by old people. Quote
ke30dude Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Day to day my zze122r sedan is great, in the last 6 weeks I covered 7000+km only filling it up with fuel and I checked the tyre pressures once. Shame it is auto, the paint is peeling really badly and the aftermarket cruise control that toyota fitted was making the throttle stick so I removed it. The single disc mp3 player decks are pretty poor as well. I used to have a paddok basher ke20, we used that for years before we restored it because it wouldnt stop. I have many photos of it filling the farm yard up with 12" tyre smoke. My current ke20 was bought for memories sake, while my fiance was pregnant with my daughter she sat in the drivers seat while I towed it into my yard, bub went nuts, we are now restoring it with a mild 4k in her memory. My ke26 I bought in melbourne and towed it home 550km away with my mates 720 ute, It had no motor but we took the 3k out of my ke30 for it, before the motor blew it put on some mean smokeshows, one day it will cop the original 3k from my ke20 project and be running hubcaps andoriginal toyota brown. I love the old corollas, every time I have had one out and about you have a lot of people over talking to you, towing my ke20 home from wagga wagga I had several older people telling me about the one their family had when they were young, one tried to buy it off me off the trailer. 78_7kRolla Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Love the feel when you are driving it. It's just got a nice driving position great steering especially considering it has no power steering. It's never broken down (touch wood) and now it has power to boot as well. Plus old rolla's have the best bloody heaters going around! Quote
