joshyouwah Posted November 23, 2008 Author Report Posted November 23, 2008 driving along the free way. car always had a shaking problem, had no idea what it was.. but then i guess i found out once the bolts came undone and the tailshaft dropped out, haha Quote
PMP020 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 so the tailshaft hadnt been tightened properly? and it wasnt a failed uni joint? who was the last person to refit the tailshaft? suspect. cheers, scott Quote
philbey Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Thank your lucky stars it wasnt your front uni that failed! Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Thank your lucky stars it wasnt your front uni that failed! Was just about to say that! :P Quote
joshyouwah Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 so the tailshaft hadnt been tightened properly? and it wasnt a failed uni joint? who was the last person to refit the tailshaft? suspect. cheers, scott i don't think the tailshaft was very well balanced to begin with, the car would shake a bit between 60 and 70, and i never really thought anything of it. that day was just a little worse, going faster probably didnt help.. and i guess the bolts just got even more loose and eventually dropped out Thank your lucky stars it wasnt your front uni that failed! oh i know, may not even have the back half of the car. cuzzo Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 You would have been on your roof! Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 oh i know, may not even have the back half of the car. Failure of the front uni can result in the tailshaft working like a Pole-vault under the car. This is the reason some motor sport events make a "tailshaft loop" compulsary - to catch the front, not the back as that'll just drag. Quote
Jono.B Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Sorry to post this kinda late, but what did you use to make that front lip??? where did you get the wing from?? i'm keen to make one for my 30 :P Quote
