ae71wagonater Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Hey everyone, I have been thinking of rigging up an AE92 oil cooler setup onto my 20v AE71 wagon. I have read that some people think they are shit and i should get a full flow aftermarket kit, but I'm trying to save money. What are your thoughts on these cooler setups? Are there many 4age KE70/AE71's getting arround with this setup?. I have the sandwich plate and a sump with the oil return, and saw plenty of coolers at the wreckers. just have to adapt the oil return fitting onto a 20v sump. any suggestions a apprecatied. Cheers. Quote
reTRD Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 my mate over here in NZ as got a worked blacktop 20V turbo in his kp starlet and he used a FD RX7 item as they have good flow rates in them factory. just a thought  Quote

Jono Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 (edited) unless you give it prolonged thrashing you won't even need an oil cooler. i don't take my car to the track so i don't even use an oil cooler. it takes ages of boosting around before the oil temp will nudge 100 degrees, takes a while for the oil temp to get to 85-90 but once its there its pretty stable. ae71wagonater Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 thanks guys, yea shes just a daily driver that i give a bit of a boot too, i thought she might have been getting a little bit warmer than normal, which was resulting in a little pinging, due to something with the water system but it seems to be stable arround the 85-90 degree mark now, however it is FKN cold at the moment so I'm wondering how it will be in summer. cheers everyone.
