JiP Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Anything environmentally friendly that "Cleans" means you need to do alot of manual scrubbing. Quote
philbey Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Gasket Remover. Usually used to get crusty head gasket of heads and blocks, but I used it with great sucess to get a stack of oil and grime off a rocker cover the other day. Quote
marksKE25 Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 hey i have a friend that works for autologic, and their degreaser is the best i have ever come across, it cleaned all of the really dity oily stuff, however.... you can use it neat but it not advisable, as if you leave alloy to soak in it, it will melt it and neat. cleaning products Quote

philbey Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Yeh alkaline/caustic substances will eat Aluminium (shouldn't call it Alloy - Steel is an alloy too!) I'm not sure what the gasket remover was, It must be aluminium compatible because of the number of aluminium blocks/heads out there. Do a test patch with whatever stripper you use, it'll be fine! Trev Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Sugar soap apparently does the same job as mag wheel cleaner and there is a product from the sierra range called DMA or something. Quote
