white_sandshoe Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Hi all, Just wondering what people think of the 45 DCOE weber carbs... I'm putting together a turbo 3TC, currently have a 3TGTE Exhaust and inlet manifold, a T28 Turbo, and looking at suitable carbs for a blow thru setup, and came across a 45DCOE 14 weber at a fairly reasonable price. Seeing as I got no idea about webers (having been spawned of holden and holley origins) would these be suitable to run in a blow thru setup? I'm aware of the need to fully enclose the unit (or mod to handle boost) and run a rising rate fuel pressure reg, but just wanting to know what sort of flow this sucker would have on a 3T under about 12-14 psi? Just want to make sure I choose a carb that will not be a restriction to airflow in a boosted setup, and need to know how the 45 DCOE 14 rates... Quote
tome coelho Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 came across a 45DCOE 14 weber at a fairly reasonable price. The DCOE 14 are not the best match for a turbo since they have no seals on the shafts as they are very old. They also come with a 30mm venturi (choke) and therefore they are a bit down on the airflow since they were ment to 1.6 old engines. However I'm looking for one of those pairs for a restoration off one of those "old 1600cc" engines of an Alfa Romeo. If you would be kind enough to give me the contact of the seller I would appreciate very much. Regards and good luck with the project. Tomé Quote
white_sandshoe Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 That was mid-last year mate... I've since graduated to a Maserati weber that was setup for blow thru from the factory. As for the seller? long long gone... 18 months gone. The DCOE 14 are not the best match for a turbo since they have no seals on the shafts as they are very old. Taz_Rx Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) I didn't see this thread last year. Know its probably not too much use to you now (if you have the maserati carb) but the Peurto Rican's run blow-through side draft webers running 8-9 second quarters!!! There's a thread sticky'd in this section just below the tech articles with lots of pics. :locked: Edited December 16, 2009 by Taz_Rx Quote
white_sandshoe Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 Yeah, I seen those crazy buggers running stupidly fast times... I'm actually using the maserati carb on a K series turbo as I came across a couple of complete 3TGTEs to go into the T18/s... Oh, and picking up another one tomorrow. hahaha. so now I officially have 3 of them. Quote
philbey Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Where the hell do you find a maserati carb? I'm guessing they're a specific Dellorto or Weber model made for maserati? Quote
