swearze Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 hi i am new at this so if it would be great if anyone could help me out. i have been slowly doing up my ke55 hardtop, and now I'm getting ready to do a brake upgrade. i have worked out most things for two different upgrades the ra40 or xt130/rt132 upgrade. but the only things that i need help with is, since you change the strut tops so it bolts up to the original holes, do you as well have to weld on the ke55 spring seats on as well or otherwise can you just use the ke55 springs. the other question is do these upgrades afect camber or anything if so what has been done to get around it. so if anyone could help me with these two little problems of mine. kangaroosa Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 (edited) Or you can fit a coilover kit to the struts and use SV21 Struts from memory. I have the exact brake upgrade but went the coilover route (was only about $500 to have the struts cut, with coilover kit fitted including springs). Something also had to be machined to mate the strut top to the shocker? I can't remember correctly. Pedders did the work btw - But you could always use different brand and stiffness springs if you so desire. I retained the standard Corolla LCA's and the wheel alignment visually looks fine. It has no more neg camber than it did before the conversion. Edited July 27, 2008 by kangaroosa Quote
