tas_ae71 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 okay lads, seeing as ive got some spare time on my hands i thought i would post up my latest project. it is a track only te72 (t-18 for those of you playing at home). its stock as a rock, body is relatively tidy with only some minor rust around the hatch seal and a bit of bog they had fallen out of the front guard from a previous repair. never mind though as i have a spare pair of front guards and a heap of other spares that came with the car. guards will get flared anyway so thats not an issue. the 3t and box are in overrated condition and are from a S2 (a few years younger). my plans are to turbo the 3t as they are a very tough motor and respond well to boost. so here are the future specs motor/box: 3tc t28 (picking up this weekend) top mount cooler, probaly an fc rx7 one blitz bov (picking up this weekend too) 32/36 weber boost gauge and controller side pipe electric fuel pump and regulator (unless i manage to be able to ghetto up a system to get it to optimum pressure without a reg) will get it going with the t-50 and stock clutch, will have to upgrade the clutch as it probaly wont handle this sort of power increase. box is overrated so should last quite a while. will be using either a ke70 bogy or s-series, locked of corse body/susy: removed every bit of equipment thats not essential for it to run/safety will be keeping gauge cluster tho. rear and quarter lexan windows 10kg front springs (currently in my road car ke70) chopped falcon or stiff similar rear springs probaly some new shocks/pads spot weld a lot of the car especially engine bay, front home made brace longer lcas and custom camber tops possibly twin rear sway bar/ghetto larger swaybar wheels: will be using what ever i have spare, probably wither 14x7 or 15x7 fronts and 14"s for the back, with spacers if nessesary other rice bits: rear wing of some sort, bonnet vent/scoop for cooler may have the cooler mounted threw the bonnet not sure yet. new white pressure pack/cheap paint on the green panels so its one colour. quad headlights most probaly or GT series 2 lights cheap harness old better steering wheel Quote

tas_ae71 Posted July 25, 2008 Author Report Posted July 25, 2008 hahahah i wondered how long is would take, bingo would be aiming for something like that maybe not quite so clean. some pics of the real car hahah note the tow bar has been removed (saved 10kg) and the rotor spec exhaust will be ditched for a side pipe nice and dirty engine bay. don't be fooled, under all that grime is a very good condition motor, perfect base to start from. motor has been transplanted from a later series 2 t-18 Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 25, 2008 Author Report Posted July 25, 2008 proof that a te71/2 can drift (with a bt 20v lol) Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 28, 2008 Author Report Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) okay, a quick update of newly accured parts turbosssss brand new cooler, still planning to top mount it either angled with a scoop or straight up.. could look a bit dodgy but i want it top mounted. genuine blitz boost gauge.... now just have to figure out what psi is in kg/cm2 hahaha Edited July 30, 2008 by tas_ae71 Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 genuine blitz boost gauge.... now just have to figure out what psi is in kg/cm2 hahaha kg/cm2 = BAR 1 Bar = 14.22psi :S Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 28, 2008 Author Report Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) o really, i thought bar was an additional measurement of pressure that was unfamiliar to me... yay Edited July 28, 2008 by tas_ae71 Quote
beerhead Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Damn you must have a sore spine from 10kg springs in a daily driver, is it choppy over the bumps? KE70dave's car was terrible with 10's and only just bearable with 8kg springs. BTW, I'd keep your tow bar, and just loose the tongue. Old rolla's are soft in the tail and linking the 2 rear rails with reinforcement gives a very noticeable stability at high speeds. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 nah tow bar kinda got stolen haha.. the sort of steel they use is heavy as smeg too, will be seam welding and maybe some bracing/half cage. yeah you just harden the smeg up, 10kg isnt that bad... better than welded shocks. just. wouldnt be so bad with some shocks to match it. but it does mean that you can have it sitting on the tyre without and scrubbage when when you get air over bumps.
