beerhead Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Looks like its all coming together pretty good. With your aftermarket ecu, do you know whether it's in full sequential mode or batch fire? I haven't had any experience of the 4AFE's ignition setup. The bigport dizzy's are batch fire, you can either cut off 3 of the 4 prongs on the top wheel, or use a 100kw dizzy in its place for sequential mode. That'll also allow you to run wasted spark or even individual coils off a 1ZZ toyota, so there'd be no more leads or dizzy cap to worry about. It'll also fire the injector of each cylinder individually. You may have to edit the settings on the haltech to make it run either way, unless the arrangement under the dizzy cap of the old 4AFE looks the same as the 4AGE dizzy. Quote

Sam_Q Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) you dizzy cap kicks arse, you don't need any additional pointers, however like beerhead said you could in theory run the four coils off an sr20 and have no wearing parts at all apart from the plugs Edited November 14, 2008 by Sam_Q Quote

beerhead Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 4AGZE cas and 100kw dizzy is the same under the top, the mod I was talking about the 4age bigport dizzy signal compatible with them. Had a look at your ecu specs and it has 4 igniter drivers, so you could run coil over plug with 4 individual coils. 1ZZ are a bolt on affair, not sure about the sr20 coils, but I don't think they have integrated igniters to make for an easy install. duggy Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 ok guys bit of an update i had it all ready to start yesterday just hat to hook up fuel lines and i decided to compression test it just cause i was curious so here we go. cyl 1 = 130 hmmm not bad i new it was gona be low cause of 4afe pistons cyl 2 = 100 ok?? cyl 3 = 100 mmm cyl 4 = 90 F**K SH**T AHHHHH so after lots of bad words and wanting to smash stuff i ended up ordering a gze from an importer which I'm hopefully picking up wednesday so more delays but i gona rebuild it all properly this time I'm thinking cams, cam gears full rewire should be good if it ever gets finished Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 The smart choice champ, do it once do it right! You'll have to cruise down to Sydney to ride with all the 4agte boys down here. :bash: Mark Quote
duggy Posted November 12, 2008 Author Report Posted November 12, 2008 ok guys picked up my gze this morning and i was just wondering if any one could tell me what model its out of and iff its map sensor or afm cause it doesnt have either and also why does it have a dizzy i thought all gze's were cas and coils Quote
beerhead Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Looks to be a bigport MKI GZE, lower compression, and a dizzy cap and rotor. All the later ones had coil packs and the CAS. Hows the compression in the new motor? If you get a better pic of the dizzy I should be able to tell you if you can use it run wasted spark or COPS too. ok guys picked up my gze this morning and i was just wondering if any one could tell me what model its out of and iff its map sensor or afm cause it doesnt have either and also why does it have a dizzy i thought all gze's were cas and coils Quote
Jono Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 it wouldnt have the oil squirters or the beefy rods either, but would have the larger crank. Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 yeah as jono said, positives and negatives... it's the same as my motor... 8.0:1 comp bigport AFM dizzy... better for boost in the comp and port department, but not as strong in the rods, and doesnt have oil squirters. all in all, it's in the tuning/application where you have to ask urself what's really necesary.
