duggy Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) hey guys got myself my first rolla i bought it a few weeks ago and its already put me through hell. its a ke38 p/van with a turbo 4afe fitted, haltech e6k ecu, fmic, shaved windows, jellybean rims, central locking with remote start and mr2 buckets. i got it cheap cause it wasnt running right apparently it needed a tune. things done so far: first thing i did when i got it home was your generaly service plugs, leads, oil the usual then to gccs got a nice alpine headunit fitted and got the central fixed cause the doors werent acctually locking. next off to the dyno where the gremlins came out. ok so after about an hour of tuning ( the tune was completely screwed he tuner was suprised the car acctually ran) we tried to make a bit of boost and we had a gnarly miss at 4000rpm. so after another hour of tuning we tried again the miss is still there so he sent me away and told me to get a new dizzy. 4 days later i went back with a new dizzy, fitted it up and retimed it. WOOHOO the miss is gone so i sat there listening to her sound like a beast for about an hour and then my next problem. not enough fuel the car is now leaning out a 4000prm. so all in all i paid 500 bucks to have a car with a 4000rpm limiter and next to no boost (about 10psi in 4th and 5th) and just today i decided to customise my dash cause it looked like poo heres so pics tell me what you think dash when i got it dash half done dash in primer needs a bit more sanding and finally pics of the actual car FMIC: Engine: Seats: in the back (is now painted black) Edited December 15, 2008 by duggy Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Awesome ride man, vans are super cool. Sounds like shes pretty much there with the tune, a fuel pump wont cost much, and another 100 on the dyno and it will run and rev like a dream! keep us posted  Quote

beerhead Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I was hoping someone would grab this and give it the TLC it needed. I'd make sure you don't pay much for a retune, The tuner should have realised that he was hitting max duty cycle on the injectors, stock injectors will flow close to 180hp as a set of 4, I doubt you've hit that barrier at 4000rpm. Did he get a pressure tester and check that the fuel regulator is holding decent pressure? If this car used to drive with its current setup, and pull times in the 13's, it'd make me think that something other than the injectors could be the issue, fingers crossed though he's hit the nail on the head. beerhead Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Closing the regulator is one thing, but what you want to check is for a consistent pressure at different loads, where does the pressure sit at normal operation, and if you rev it out a bit, does it stay pretty close? You want to T off before the fuel rail and watch if its consistent. ok guys injectors just got deliviered YAY, and as for what your saying i have also changed alot of other stuff with the fuel system like there was a few big kinks in the lines replaced the vl pump replaced the lift pump and i moved the filter cause the poor little lift pump was trying to suck through the filter. and as for pressure at the fuel rail i just clamped the hose on the reg and it shot up to like 100psi. also just spoke to the tuner he said he was 650-700 for another retune so does any one know any cheap tuners in gold coast brizzy area Quote

duggy Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 Bloody hell $600+ could get you a wide band with all the bells and whistles. sorry probably a noob question but wats a wide band Quote
Jason Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) Wideband oxygen sensor. My wideband I just got the unit itself without the rpm input. because my ecu supports the lm1 directly: ie the lm1 feeds it the oxygen signal and already has rpm. Therefor adjusts the AFR automatically. Edited July 23, 2008 by Jason Quote
PMP020 Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 sweet wags, will be a little rocket when your done. i vote do some calling around before u go back for another tune. there will be cheaper places out there who do as good if not better work. keep us up to date. cheers, scott Quote
