yes, 2tc come in 5 speed sometimes..... don't know about there in AUS. its called the early T50 tranny, look for 71-78 toyota corolla tranny for the right shifter location. t50 tranny from 79-83 fits but the shifter has moved back about 3 inches towards the rear.

that is true, my mistake, but JDM guy i think was reffering to *E10-*E55's

I was reffering to 71-78 corolla model TE27/TE21/ TE28/ TE31/TE37, and TE35? .... As well as TA22 or TA27.

None of which were sold in Australia (apart from TA22, and supposedly a handful of TE27s for homologation purposes)

The TE31 Corolla did come with a T40 and some with a T50 I think. Same with most 2T engined cars. The Corolla "SR-5" TE37 did come with the 5-speed, as "SR-5" was thought to mean 5-speed back then.

But the T40 and T50 gearbox is the same, just the 4-speed is missing some parts. It was possible at the time when new, to buy the extra parts for the gearbox to upgrade to 5-speed.
