towe001 Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 After a nice short term friendship of about 4-5 months with my xbox 360, it decided to have a dummy spit and throw the red ring of death at me. Gave Microsoft a call handed over my details to the girl who promptly told me that its out of warranty...... Like, what, its only about 6 months old and yes i still have the receipt to prove it... Also found out they don't really fix the system its just a swap with a refurbished unit. Just have to figure out where the damn receipt is
Sturgey Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 I beg to differ Take your pick, KGC10 or KPGC110 lol ive been driving an mgc210 with an rb20det all weekend :P
Lexxi[ke35] Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Last night I went to bed and my entire body was itchy. This morning I woke up with patches of huge mosquito bite looking rashes everywhere. It looks like I'm covered in cellulite. Eww. Also, now that I've been driving my car coz I got my P's and its registered I've been noticing absolutely everything thats wrong with it. Fuel filter leak, main seal leak, incredibly high revving [we're changing the diff over one day], hole in the fuel filter hose [fixed :P], its missing, my door hinge is sagging, my front shockers have carked it, I have an air leak somewhere in the drivers door so it sounds like the window is wide open constantly, the poor thing is just falling to bits :P. Its just coz it hasn't really been driven much since we got it and now it just needs all the attention you have to give a car as soon as you buy it [even though we've had it about a year :bash:]. Hopefully the mum's bf will get some time between now and the birthday cruise to fix it all  I would do it, but they won't let me :P
Hiro Protagonist Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 lol ive been driving an mgc210 with an rb20det all weekend :P 240K, blergh.
JiP Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 In regards to the xbox, when mine broke, we rang microsoft and they told me it was past its warrenty even though we still had a couple months left. I wonder how many xbox's they get out of repairing... So what does this red ring do? I never got mine fixed so don't know the actual problem. I just unplugged it and left it. Its been like that for a few years now and i've never tried some of the games that i bought before it broke. :P
godlovesugly Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 ooo shotty the KPGC110!!! that thing is beefy as! but most likely rare.... indeed... i only know of one private import and as soon as that sucker is for sale i will be selling my liver to buy it. as for the red ring xbox, i think what happens is some component gets so hot it desolders itself. my xbox has done the 3 red lights before and i just turnt it off and let it cool down and i assume the connections fixed themselves because it still works. but the other three times before that were a different story.... my first xbox 360 only lasted 24 hours before red ringing.
Jason KE30 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 My Xbox done did the same thing yo'll. But mind you microsoft were awesome to us. We sent it off, and two weeks later, new xbox!! The ones they send back are guarnenteed not to get the red ring of death apparently...
Lexxi[ke35] Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Xbox's suck. Except Halo. Halo's cool. And Oddworld. And Destroy All Humans. Dammit Xbox is cool! :P Edited February 16, 2009 by Lexxi[ke35]
Hiro Protagonist Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Not exactly today, but got my blacks on Friday, opens up a whole new world of awesomeness: 1) No more being identified as a hoon P-plater 2) Can remove ugly P-plate holder brackets from car 3) Can go 110km/h on the freeway, which is now only 20km/h slower than everyone else does anyway 4) Can have a brewski or two and not worry about being over the limit. In fact, it was less than 3 hours after my test that I drove with what would have been an illegal blood alcohol level under P-plate laws, but now that I'm regarded as a normal member of society, it's perfectly acceptable (would have been .01 or .02, barely even notice it) Scary thing is, the next time I have to renew my license, I'll be 30 *shudders*
dfunkt Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Not exactly today, but got my blacks on Friday, opens up a whole new world of awesomeness: Scary thing is, the next time I have to renew my license, I'll be 30 *shudders* i will be 31 when i renew my licence, so don't worry about it. the only thing worse than that is the photo on my license is from when i was 18!
Redwarf Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) 240K, blergh. That's what I used to think until I came across this car..... With the great Murray Coote at the wheel. Listen to the note of it when it leaves. Not bad for a 6 pot. :P The corner at 4:30 is brilliant... Pace notes Jimna... Oh, and next license renewal when I'm 38. In 2011. :P Edited February 16, 2009 by Redwarf
orangeLJ Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Getting your blacks is a good feeling hey. Got mine back in november. Its awesome to be able to knock back a beer and not be worried about driving or not. The morning after a big night is another benefit, you don't have to wait to drive "just in case" I know what you mean about the F3. it has an unposted limit of 130, its just the way it is for peak hour though/
towe001 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I have an air leak somewhere in the drivers door so it sounds like the window is wide open constantly, the poor thing is just falling to bits :P. Have a look at the top rear corner of the door. The gasket seal is more then likely fallen apart with age or around the same area but with what the glass runs on. The car is just like anything and anybody else - just needs some sweet sweet lovin every so often usually called maintenance  In regards to the xbox, when mine broke, we rang microsoft and they told me it was past its warrenty even though we still had a couple months left. I wonder how many xbox's they get out of repairing...So what does this red ring do? I never got mine fixed so don't know the actual problem. I just unplugged it and left it. Its been like that for a few years now and i've never tried some of the games that i bought before it broke. :( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ring_of_Death#Causes More or less very poor ventilation causing the overheating and crap solder (cause of the greenies MS used no-lead solder) that couldn't handle the heat. There's a few things that can be done in fixing it, like this one http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_...x-clamp_fix.htm The ones they send back are guarnenteed not to get the red ring of death apparently... Ask Trev about that one.... Kinda hoping the one i get back has a lower version number (doubt it really) so that i'll be able to run linux on it :hmm:
Trev Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Ask Trev about that one.... I seem to have alot of experience with red ring, The 2nd time i got mine back I was told that it had the new soldered board in it that wont fail, It failed, I have only had it back for about a month so i will see how it goes, They do take your xbox apart tho because they have to work out where the fault is and they put the new board into your housing so you keep your serial number and so on.
