JiP Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Hey guys, I am going on a bit of a road trip starting next weekend with my two sisters. We will be in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle & Coffs Harbour. (In that order) I'm just wanting to know if anyone can recommend anything interesting to do/see?? I'm trying to convince my sisters that it would be better for us to take the rolla but at the moment it looks to be a squashy Nissan Micra. :( Quote
towe001 Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Byron Bay and stop off at the wicked weasel bikini shop :( Quote
JiP Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Anyone from Melbourne have ideas?? My sisters may be interested is sitting in on some TV shows. What's filmed in Melbourne?? Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) In Newcastle you can.....ummmm.....errrr....hmmmm....dunno. Our biggest claim to fame (and biggest attraction) is that we're not Sydney. Oh, and our beaches rock. But it's winter now, so they'd be like dipping your testicles in a bucket of ice water, quickly followed by your whole body. Edit - serious bit. Go check out the wineries up in the Hunter Valley, it's only an hour or so out of town and you'll be absolutely spoiled for choice (if you like wine that is). JiP Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 :( I'm not a winer. Might end up dipping our toes in, just to see how cold it is. My sisters are wanting to drive the Great Ocean Road and they plan on testing the water there too. if we can dip our toes down there I'm sure the waters of Newcastle would be warmer. Quote
JiP Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Getting ready for my road trip, today I bought... The USB card for wireless internet. And POWER for my laptop. It can be plugged into the cigarette lighter or can be attached directly to the battery Quote
sammo[RL] Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 You gotta go and do 'Big' things! Coffs has the big banana, between sydney and melbourne is a place called Goulburn, and they have the big sheep! I'm sure there are others...thats a big trip! Quote
sammo[RL] Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Why not! Its a road trip, and well... its what people do on road trips, take photos of themselves in front of big things... isn't it?... Quote
irokin Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Be careful with the inverter. Its in all likelihood a non-pure sinewave and some laptop power converters don't like the psuedo sine wave lower end inverters put out. Some work just fine some go up in smoke. Id try it without the laptop connected first. Power bricks are cheaper than laptops (Although the Asus Eee comes close to some!) Quote
WinKE55 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Lol.. the "Why" was a personal joke there sammo :) JiP and I were being stupid. Quote
JiP Posted July 18, 2008 Author Report Posted July 18, 2008 Okay, we leave in the morning. So does anyone know what roads have tolls in Sydney and Melbourne and how much they charge?? Quote
sammo[RL] Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Some of sydneys big free ways have tolls, others don't. The M7 requires an e-tag, but if you go thru without, they'll send you bill in a couple weeks. About 16-20 bucks when they send it. Most others you can pay with cash. Can't remember how much others were... Quote
