tas_ae71 Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) gspec, I'm not sure what the difference in bolting mods on at home in your own shed and having a mechanic do it.. yes people do, do dodgy mods but if mods are done properly why can someone do them at home ffs. i don't have thousands to spend every time my car needs maintance, id perfur to do everything myself so that i know that its been done properly. or if something is on the way out and i have not been able to replace it, I'm well aware of the problem. i do agree with the other things you have said though. a lot of dodgy examples that seem to be over priced, sometimes you just need to sit back and have a chuckle to yourself because the seller is wondering why its not selling. but then again, if you want to sell something quick then you would tend to put a lower price on it, if I'm not really fussed on selling something then i put a higher price on it. Kid-Ae Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Haha GSpec has a brain :yak: Danno how that happened :) Cars are only worth what the public is willing to pay. If someone buys your car for a competitive price in relation to its condition, age, problems etc then both sides win. Greed is not a virtue. 8| Quote

Sure if the mod is a bolt on or a non-distructive alteration and its done properly, go for your life. Though there is usually 1 main difference between a machanic and most backyarders.... EXPERIENCE! :) I'm talking about people that believe bending your gaurds out with a newspaper, or rolling the lip with pliers, or cutting Ford springs and all that completre dogdey shit. This prooves that people don't think highly of the value of Corollas! And then there are the people that think a dry, thrashed 5 speed box adds value.... if its smegged, its worthless. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 i have flared guard that where done with plier a hammer and a dolly. they also need new sections of metal put in them because like many ke70's they had rust. so in this way i had done it the proper way, just the same as a body works would have done. only thing is that i have not yet bothered to paint them because ill probaly respray the whole car when i can aford the materials. little bits and pieces on ym car and mates cars has given me experience. some people perfure to buy/pay rather than do it yourself. I'm not one of these people. do you wish to see the done at home work? Quote
import_love Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 oh yeah, saw that thing on ebay, deceased estate yeah?? temted to buy it myself. good luck with it mate Quote

Kid-Ae Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 If the done at home work is carried out professionally (i.e no cutting corners, everything as should be for such modification) then there isn't a problem. GSpec just so happens to be a professional (well, sometimes :)) and the quality of work is astounding. He doesn't have a large workshop or anything but with patience and persistence gets the job done. If people can do mods that improve the cars value and are above board, i'd be happy to pay the little extra for the vehicle, otherwise throw it away. Quote
muller Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 KE55, Older the better for individual shape in my opinion. Quote

Just don't have the time for big jobs like that. :yak: Hopefully that aint the case, it probably won't be. 8| Edited July 9, 2008 by Astro Boy Quote
