mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 to those whom may remember, I sold my beloved '69 KE18 to pay for my all-time dream car, a '58 Desoto. The kid took excellent care of it but I just got a call that he was rear-ended. I don't want to see her, but he says it was hit so hard it buckled the passenger side (right) door and it won't open. The roof is buckled, the frame is taco'd and the right leaf spring is bowed lifting the right rear of the car. he drove her off the road, but the trans was leaking (driveshaft punched out the rear seal) so he had her towed home. A real sad end to a very dear car. Quote
flat out Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 rip daisy 1969-2008 39 years is a great innings doubt mine will be around that long! Quote
Kid-Ae Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 ;) ;) Aww why does it have to happen to the good ones?!?!?! Quote
Tally Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) sad man but what can ya do? stuff happens aye. At least for the people who have them the prices will just keep on going up. Still find them if you look hard enough me thinks. Edited July 4, 2008 by Tally Quote
JiP Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 That's really sad. I think you should go see it since you had owned it for so long. Take some pics so that you can document her life. Quote
ke11restorer Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 Buy the wreck back off him for next to nothing, and fix it! Quote
PHATKE20S Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) You must save her Mike, she looked after you so well all that time............... AND she came up Beautiful i must say ;) Edited July 4, 2008 by PHATKE20S Quote
Raven Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 Unfortunate... Bet you wished you kept her now though hey Mikey? Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 4, 2008 Author Report Posted July 4, 2008 no; you just don't see KE1X's out here...finding a parts car would be impossible. Plus if it was hit so hard it distorted the door well, I don't think it would be savable. I Don't miss her as much as I though I would. I'm having WAY more fun with the B210 (120Y). Never owned a car that would do a burnout in second, let alone THIRD!!!! Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 WOW, I haven't been around long enough to know this car she looks amazing! You got her to that level, I would like to think that what happens after doesn't matter so much. Quote
ScottKE1X Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) Thats terrible mike! Sad to hear that sort of news... She was one of the greats. Edited July 4, 2008 by ROL-110 Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 4, 2008 Author Report Posted July 4, 2008 Thanks, scott....that means a lot coming from you. There were memories-good and bad-tied up with her I really didn't mind losing. That's what made it easier to sell Quote
