tas_ae71 Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 hey, i have a ke20, it to my knowledge has the standard struts in it but no hubs/brakes at all up front (had volvo 4 spots but previous owner removed these). i have some spare ke70 struts. from which i can get bits. there are a few guys around who have some ke55 bits aswell, who i could probaly get bits from if need be. what can i bolt onto these struts? a few people have said that ke55 stuff will bolt straight up..? is this true? if so which callipers because i think there maybe two different versions? also on a side note will falcon spring fit these ke20 struts? my search didn't satisfy my questions. thanks. phife Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 The hubs and discs from the ke55 will fit on the ke20 struts but require the smaller ke10/20 hub bearings to suit the stub axle. Not sure how easy it is to get the small bearings. The caliper backing plate from a ke55 should bolt up to the ke20 strut, the bolt holes from the ke70 ones don't line up. Use the thicker ke70 discs/calipers if the ke55 discs are the slightly thinner jap type (12.7mm vs 10mm). Would you have any details of that Volvo setup ie. how they were mounted and with what discs? LINDSAY Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Mate if he had a Volvo setup on there before i would try and set it up again , it will be better in the long run , for instance if you want to do an engine pgrade or something in the future the the brakes will allready be done Quote
Taz_Rx Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Hey Aaron, got your sms. I have some ke55 hubs, with very rusty discs on them (x2 sets actually), but don't have any backing plates. Also have a spare set of girlock calipers (these are the better ke55 ones). $20 for the calipers and I'll donate a set of hubs. :( As for backing plates, maybe also talk to casey, as he might have a set of complete ke55 struts. tas_ae71 Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 thanks phife, thats what i wanted to know.. no i don't have any pictures lindsay, it was a circuit car before, it going to be used as a drift car not so brakes arnt really a worry, besides the ke55 stuff is going to be an upgrade from ke20... also it is very budget (the car isnt actually mine) so money is only going to be spent where need be. engine sitting in the shed for it is a jap bigport (7rib bigger bearings) got it for a steal, set-up for RWD. thanks si, ill ask casey. i still need the bearing/hubs for ke10/20 by the sounds of it.. Felix Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 oh just thought of something, wanting to keep the stud pattern 114.3, the rear has been converted or swapped for another diff already. Just use the later 55 hubs with ke1/2x wheel bearings to have 114.3 pcd on the front. Quote
