KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Hey all, been looking at a few 3k's lately and also had a few people look at mine that have seen a few aswell, and my engine number is located in a different spot as apposed to all other 3k's i have seen. What (if any) is the difference between the two? Pictures attached for reference cheers Jake Quote
dfunkt Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 the difference would be the early and the late blocks, your's being an early one...i have no idea if there are any actual differences. Quote
Redwarf Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) It's the difference between early and late 3K blocks. Early (generally green) blocks have them where yours are, and later (generally red blocks) have it in the other position. :) *edit: Bugger! SNAP! Edited June 18, 2008 by Redwarf Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 Ok sweet, Thanks for that. And here i just thought it was green to match the colour of the car. Damn! Cheers for the speed of your reply's Quote
lappy Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 Both are exactly the same internally just a different position. I have race with both types of blocks and had no probs with either of them Quote
BlindKidSeeks Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 masssive dig up here.... i am about to put an early block in my GF's car... and have noticed there is no gearbox mount on the manifold side of the motor? not like the later 3k blocks.. is it going to be ok to mount the k50 to this motor? Quote
coln72 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 you may also end up with one of the gearbox mounting holes being half a hole out. Found that out when using an early/late combination. Nothing that couldnt be rectified with a drill. Quote
BlindKidSeeks Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 so do you think the mountign will be ok.. even with only one bracket on the dizzy side being mounted to the gearbox? Quote
SLO-030 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 My KE25 never had any G/box supports at all without an issue Quote
BlindKidSeeks Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 ok cool feeling a little better about this Quote
