Ke20nut Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 thanks yoda. that was my dogs nickname cheers Quote
philbey Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I drew up the strut top brackets and had 2 sets cut for 50 bucks. (Not for a rolla) 12 bucks for 2 tie rod ends, 1 left handed threaded. We welded plugs into the end of a steel tube and drilled and tapped them. I still have the M12 LH Tap. Then you just stick a locknut on and its all go. Quote
Ke20nut Posted June 19, 2008 Author Report Posted June 19, 2008 thanks sounds good, was thinking along that line earlier today. Am just a little afraid about drawing the strut tops. guess ill havev to give it a shot and see how it goes. what material template did u use Quote
HRV-00S Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 I'm making my own at the moment out of alloy for my KE70. I made a template out of cardboard transfered that onto the sheet of alloy and cut it out with a jig saw, to easy :lolcry: I'm going to make it solid for now and convert it to an adjustable type later on with a turn buckle in the center of it. These are the brackets so far, Cheers Dan Quote
philbey Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 I used stainless because I could get it same price from a laser cutter we used at work. I'd go with steel or stainless though, for the longevity. Quote
HRV-00S Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Yeah, I only used the alloy because it was free and it's a fairly heavy gauge. I'll probably make a better one from stainless if I can find some at work. Quote
Ke20nut Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 THANKS EVERY ONE THINK ILL GO DOWN THE ROAD AND SEE THE METAL FABRICATORS THIS FRIDAY AND SHOW EM WHAT I WANT. NEEDS TO BE LASER CUT . CHEERS Quote
philbey Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Watch the caps lock mate. You could get it laser cut, water cut, plasma cut, wire cut etc. If you're smart you might even be able to avoid getting it welded if you're fabricator has a fancy v brake. Quote
