Are you thinking about running a similar engine to that inspiration of yours ?

 

 

in the end hopefully yes. once i get the money (prob take quite a few years) i want to make it as clean as possible. maybe make it a part time show car. :dance:

yeah i was really happy when i first got it i thought it looked really nice, i really like older smaller cars like this. then i got straight onto google and searched for done up ones and came across that blue KE so i was like :lolcry: oh yeahh haha

Everything apart from the gearbox ( it was a 5 speed but I raided it and changed it over for a 4 speed)

was how I bought it.

The guy who I bought it off was in his 20's and worked at the TRC bottleshop near launceston college. :dance:

I only had it for a few months then sold it to your dad.

As I said it's got a 4k 1300cc motor, which are very popular and found in later model corolla's 1976 to approx 1984 models.

I know of 2 ke20 corolla's like your model going around Launnie.

One is brown with mags and parks out near the roundabout to wolworths on racecourse crescent, and the other one is driven by an old man which is white in colour and I think may live down in Basin Road somewhere.

Anyway this is a great site for anything you need to know about old corolla's.

ah i see i was looking in the for sales part of this site and there is a dude in hobart that is selling his and i might be blae to get the bootlid off him hah the one on there is so bad :hmm:

 

would you happen to know anyone around launceston that would have a cheap bootlid??

Maybe if you put a ad in the trading post for a bootlid to suit a 1971 ke20, other then that just keep your eye's and ears open and maybe one may come up for sale, even if you have to buy a whole car for it.

If your willing to pay a bit more you may have to try EBAY. :dance:

 

About the old car smell, It's just something that stays with the car, all old cars have a smell to there own.

ahh haha the smell is weird i remember it from my dads old corolla back in the day haha tis something you don't forget anyways i would be out doin stuff to it right now but stupid weather :hmm:

A bit of an update. been outside most of today and now i have all the right hand side sanded, leaving only the left door and left back panel thing. lots of hardwork. and so annoying when you go over and realise you have missed alot of spots so now i think it is all done on the side pretty happy. there was a HUGE dent in the front right of the roof which was covered with body bog which dad got out and he filled that up the other night, now waiting for him to get something and then he will smooth that out then once we have fixed all the low spots it will be up to primer stage. what a shame monday is school again :y: but its alright i got a great timetable, come home at around 11:30ish monday and tuesday oh yeahhh :lolcry:

i go to LC its pretty sick, ahah i didnt even know what a ke20 was until i got my car :lolcry:

 

its soo close to being finished and ready for painting its taken AGES well what i think is ages. like 4 weeks of sanding 2 -3 hours a day 3 days a week, ahahaha

haha mate thats not long, iv had mine off the road for 2 years for an engine conversion and some light body work, its close to complete now but motivation isnt high, look forward to see this cruising real soon!
