juligan Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) Hey, when i have the lights on at night in my ke55 the charge light comes on. The car also often stalls itself if u leave it in drive without the choke out when u are stopped at traffic lights with the headlights on. Do u have any ideas what it could be, or how to fix it? Taz_Rx Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 Sounds like your alterantor is on the way out. Can get it reco'd for around $100-$150, buy a sceond hand one for like $20, or buy a new one...there's one on egay at the mo for like $60. Quote
ke30dude Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 the new ones on ebay arent that bad, I bought one  Quote
juligan Posted June 5, 2008 Author Report Posted June 5, 2008 thanks for ur response, yeah thats what i was worried it could be. Well it seems my little old rolla needs some money spent on it then, as my brake booster is gone aswell, Ohwell. Quote
calaissix Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 is it internal regulator or external,if its external it may be in the regulator ,which means changing the alternator probably will have no effect! Quote
Jimpoole Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I had the same problem with my car, but fortunately not as bad as yours. I have same model, same year. If for whatever reason she doesn’t want to go (choke not right, flooded, etc), as I am starting it, the battery will go very flat, very quick. I took out the alternator and had it tested, but it came back ok. I whacked the multimeter on the battery terminals and found that the battery is slowly being drained when it is not running. I don’t know what is draining the battery and I don’t really want to. Due to the nature of your problem I can’t make any suggestion to you other to check your alternator. If anyone has any suggestions can they please contact me, thanks Quote
juligan Posted August 31, 2008 Author Report Posted August 31, 2008 Yeah, my battery drains quickly aswell. If it got flodded, or just wouldnt start in the cold the battery would drain quickly. I replaced the battery thinking that would fix the dharge light issue, but i still have the same problem. Quote
Budowski Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 I had the chage light problem in my KE30 found it was a dirty rusty earth cable bolting point at the chassis on the LH engine bay rail. Quote
