ke30dude Posted June 21, 2008 Author Report Posted June 21, 2008 This followed me home today. Story goes it was owned by a grandma and not been on the road in the last 10 years. Getting it on the trailer was a pain in the ass as the tyres were dead flat and I had clearance issues, I pulled in at the narrandera servo and pumped them up on the way home. Get home put in the battery out of my XF and some fuel in the tank, ran pretty much within 30 seconds of turning the key. Cost: $250 I think I got a bargain, most the shit came off after a wash. plans? 4k (NO major conversions) I have some 12" 5 slotters, new coat of paint and a seal kit. Quote

For starters, either keep it for my ke26 or nick the bigport head off it. Everything seems to work except for the dashlights behind the speedo and the brakes are f*cked. Quote

ke30dude Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 Well, it appears I might finally get a good stab at a ke30 again, the red one I had in the beginning of this thread was missing many parts, as when dad cleaned out the old shed he chucked a lot of it by accident. I still have that shell and will be using it for parts on...... Another 30, apart from a light hit to the front where the original (from new) owner sold it to a pair of kids to paddock bash the F**K out of it and took to it with spray cans, it isn't too bad, and for $50 I am not complaining. It even has a left hand mirror! 3K 4sp, Originally it was orange (just like my first one was), No rust in main shell (country car). Plans? Fix the 3k, fit spare bonnet and guards , very quick spray in original colour, CRUISE. I will post pics as soon as I arrange someone to go get it for me, I don't have a tow car anymore :P Quote

ke30dude Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 (edited) can't get it home for two weeks, a mate of mine with a trailer and suitable car (If you call a chev subruban "bourbon" a car) to tow is up in sydney with his LJ torana drag car, he will bring it here for a carton of beer. Or I could be impatient and use the current owners ute and pay $66 for a half day. Will make steady progress on this one, no big bills anymore, we own a house now (instead of saving for one lol). ke30dude Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 Picked it up this afternoon, the main shell is straight and mostly rust free (thats the important part), the 3k is still pretty healthy, it also has a jap diff which I will be swapping for a borgy so I can put the axles in my ke20. ke30dude Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Posted April 1, 2009 (edited) I did a little today, rubbed back most of the chickenshit paint on the drivers side, no major damage to be found on that side apart from the bent guard. My steering is way out of wack the wheels point in toward one another pretty badly, does not turn left well at all, hopefully my good steering box, new pitman and idler arms will fix this. EDIT: atleast the writing next to the toyota badge is true. Edited April 1, 2009 by ke30dude Quote
ke30dude Posted April 2, 2009 Author Report Posted April 2, 2009 Moar sanding today, Only planned to do the roof and boot, the missus decided to have a go at the rear 1/4 I think she did pretty good! it only took her ab out 15 mins. Quote
ke30dude Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 I have bought brand new guards for the front, hopefull arriving next week. I went to dads house today and knocked off a ke30 bumper, front apron and bonnet that were floating about, will have a half decent front on it within a week or so. Here is a pic of the fron all stripped off. I must get a drivers window, I have a spare door somewhere I can steal one from. It has been pissing down rain for a week now. Quote
