h1_roll4 Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 hey. ive been trying for weeks now to get the 4age in my ke70 to start with no luck i found out on friday it was the immobilizer. ive since got rid of the immobilizer. ive got power going to the coil, i know that 4 sure. and the starter is cranking. but theres no spark even reaching the distributor! only thing i can think of is the coil is f@$ked, i'll swap it over 2nite. anyone got any ideas? Medicine_Man Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 It will either be the plug from the dizzy is not sending signals back to the ECU or the ECU is not sending signals to the ignitor.. Does the coil/igniter have a good frame connection? Quote
h1_roll4 Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 It will either be the plug from the dizzy is not sending signals back to the ECU or the ECU is not sending signals to the ignitor.. Does the coil/igniter have a good frame connection? the engine has been converted to carbs, so no ECU. and yeah the frame connection is good. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 (edited) what exactly do you have for your ignition setup? if you have just a standard 4age coil, dizzy/ignitor then your not going to get any spark because the ecu isnt sending the signal to spark.. if this is the case there are a few options, on of them is an ignition computer or modify another dizzy to carby spec with a vaccume advance (no locked power curve here). one guy i know who had a bigport on carbs had a magna dizzy with a 4age gear drive on the end of it. i can't say what year/model of magna but there went too many motors around in the older ones :) this with the coil setup should to suit is should be ace. i have heard of someone using a 4ke electronic dizzy but i don't have anymore info on it, may have been the internal components of it I'm not sure. beerhead Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 If you're running carbs, what ignition module are you using to make the engine fire? The factory igniter can't do the job required without the ecu. Quote
h1_roll4 Posted May 21, 2008 Author Report Posted May 21, 2008 (edited) I'm using the ignition setup that came with the engine, ive seen the engine start just by connecting battry to the coil and to the starter. but now, once its in the car I'm getting nothing. Edited May 21, 2008 by h1_roll4 Quote
beerhead Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 You might need to post some pics so we can help you through this if you're still having no luck. It may be on points if all you needed to wire was the coil and the starter. Is there a little silver box attached to the coil still? Quote
h1_roll4 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Report Posted May 23, 2008 my apprentice mechanic mate is gona have a look 2nite. if nothing still i'll get some piks up 2moro or monday. silver box is still attatched. and yeah all that needs to be wired up is starter, coil and alternator. Quote
