Jono Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 it seems VTEC can give you forced induction without a turbo! Quote
white_sandshoe Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 it seems VTEC can give you forced induction without a turbo! WOW!!! gotta love the honda tech... I've heard that long inlet runners help with lower torque, but this is getting rediculous!!! I wonder if the ol pod filter to intercooler is actuallymaking an effect... I guess it would still drop inlet temperature, though i think the struggle to pull air through that long-ass piece of pipe would make it a moot point... Any other dumb, pointless 'performance' mods anyone has seen??? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 If this is done better, its a good idea. This is just ricey though. Quote
Kid-Ae Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Got Rice? dodgy brothers inc. Spose if you REALLY want to do it, be my guest, but it is seriously a waste of time Quote
white_sandshoe Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 If this is done better, its a good idea. This is just ricey though. Actually, i could see a top mount with a cold air inlet working quite well... now THAT's an idea!!! i'll have to do it now... lol! Quote
beerhead Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Bahaha!! What an idiot. the air inside the intercooler is the same temp as the air outside the cooler. Intercoolers work because after boosting the air the is hotter and the temperature differential is lost to ambient. Quote

Budowski Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 that tube is actually the breather/induction setup to more efficently burn the extra fuel vapur from the carcoal canister back into the intake duct to reduce emissions  LOL Quote
white_sandshoe Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Hey, would anyone laugh at me if i ran a top mount intercooler with dry ice on my N/A car? lol. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 That would be the only way a cooler would work on an NA car, but still be somewhat useless. as beerhead stated, the cooler can only lower the air temp to atmo temp, which is the same as whats being sucked in. The dry ice could lower your inlet temps to below atmo temp. Quote
white_sandshoe Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Jokes boys... you should all know i am soooo bolting a turbo up... might still go dry ice and see how long it takes to blow up a 3K on 30psi... (also a joke there... i'm not that cruel.) Quote

Sorry lads - breaking the firs law of thermodynamics there, but hey, if you get it to work, let me know I'd like to turn your idea into millions of dollars hahahaha That would be the only way a cooler would work on an NA car, but still be somewhat useless.as beerhead stated, the cooler can only lower the air temp to atmo temp, which is the same as whats being sucked in. Kid-Ae Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Since seeing this, i was wondering. Could you have a dual intercooled engine? Say a top mount and a front mount? top mount being dry iced and front mount sucking the fresh air? randomly thought of it, would work i guess :) Quote

Say a top mount and a front mount? top mount being dry iced and front mount sucking the fresh air? randomly thought of it, would work i guess :) Well actually 99.9999% of car "intercoolers" are actually aftercoolers. The term intercooler comes from WWII aircraft which had multiple stages of supercharging with intercoolers between (inter - latin for between...get it?) the supercharging stages and sometimes an aftercooler as well. philbey Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Gas and Steam turbines as well all use proper "inter"cooling. Quote
