mikey_m Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Hi Guys Does anyone know what if any other engines share the same intake manifold pattern as the 4AC. Wether it be datsun engines, other Toyota ones etc..... Thanks Mike Quote
tas_ae71 Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 what are you trying to do? ive never heard of any suiting... there where some EFI 4ae's released which had the same single cam head. not in aus unfortunately. if you going for twin carbs a custom manifold is must. if your wanting a carb upgrade, best bang for buck is probaly a 32/36 weber. adapter plate to suit the standard manifold are $50 from ebay.. easily install in an afternoon. I Have twin 40mm carbs to mount, I thought if another engine shared the same pattern that a vendor may make an existing manifold to suit. So far it is custom, it is no biggies, just more $$ and plenty of time, if I could just buy one, much easier Quote
tas_ae71 Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 i was going to buy this myself... i have changed my mind now, rater you have it :) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...197339&rd=1 twin sidedraft mani for 4ac, the ONLY one i have seen for sale, there are some rare HKS manifolds but yeah, this is the only one i seen thats been sold. mikey_m Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 :bash:  Success byt the looks of it, I contacted the seller and he can source me another, a little bit more in the $$$$ but I have one. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 sweet, i was talking to a guy who has an exhaust shop about extractors and he is looking into them for me. Quote
Philbo Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 sweet, i was talking to a guy who has an exhaust shop about extractors and he is looking into them for me. Oooh, I'd like to hear any more details you find tas, have tried unsuccessfully to find AE71 extractors Quote
mikey_m Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 Guys I have been looking for extractors too, however there is bad news by the looks of it. I have been searching under many rocks and most if not all manufacturers have stopped producing beloved extractors for the 4AC... :bash: I am having to get mine custom, now custom can be expensive and sometime it is not, the 4AC is an easy one to design up and if like me you want mild steel ones, then they will be cheap, however in stainless expect to pay $$$. If anyone happens to know of a smaller vendor still making them, please let us all know, but by the looks of it we will just have to make our own. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 might have to buy a pipe bender and do a run of them.. whos keen? Quote
Philbo Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Oops, sorry Tas, didn't see that post. A mate of mine said I can use their pipe bender, so I'm gonna have a crack at making some myself. As far as I'm concerned, I couldn't really make it any worse than the factory exhaust, right? :fuzz: I'll get someone to laser cut a copy of the exhaust flanges in some 12mm steel plate, and buy some pipes/collectors. I might take some pics too if anyone's interested, and if they turn out half decent. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 yeah id like too see when your done.. yes it is possible to make them worse than factory  take it slow, put some thought into it.. don't forget to make sure it clears everything check twice cut once :no2: Quote
