evil00smurk Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Well I really like the drifting look, so I was looking at some rims and found some with a size of 114.3 lugs 15 x 8 with an offset of +0 and I was wondering if anyone thinks it would hit any part of my 1979 2dr KE30? :hmm: Quote
ke70dave Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Well I really like the drifting look, so I was looking at some rims and found some with a size of 114.3 lugs 15 x 8 with an offset of +0 and I was wondering if anyone thinks it would hit any part of my 1979 2dr KE30? :hmm: 15x8 offset of 0 are pretty extreme wheels, I'm sure they will fit...if you keep the car at stock ride height. wheels might stick out a fair way. your best bet is to try them on! tyre sizes make a big difference as well Quote
2tgcoupe Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 I don't know why, but I usually hate simmons rims. But I got a set on my ke55 coupe, and I reckon they look hot as. Look a bit drifting style cause of the dish they have, and the centre can get painted whatever colour you want, to suit, or set off the paint on your car.. Downside: They're Deer as hell. Mine were about $680 per wheel for 16" x 6.5" +rubber. Tyres ranging from 115 ea to250 each. But you could prob pick up a second hand set if you looked hard enough. Quote
evil00smurk Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) I need to buy them in order to try them on... If anyone knows if the rims will hit the shocks while turning or effect my turning in any way or hit any part of my car? :D And for the tires, I'm going to put on some high performance low profile tires on to try any keep the car low as possible with 15"... styler Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 you need to buy them to try them on? thats a load of shite! if you are serious and have the cash then they should do it for free else offer $20 or something if you really have to. 8 inch rim = 205mm. its not the rim thats going to hit anything, its the tyre that will hit. if you run a proper width tyre for the rim and not some stretched undersize tyre inflated to 40psi to stop it coming off the bead (which is exactly what takumi heroes do) then the tyre will be much wider than the rim. tyre chart Quote
flat out Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 (edited) and none of thats going to happen on a rim under 8 inches, i know that 205's sit nicly on 9"s i have 185/60 on my 7" ssr's and its merely stretched i don't know of any perfect offsets that will fit a ke55 with 8"s also the more stretched a tyre is the less body roll you would have compared to a set of fats Edited May 10, 2008 by flat out Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 hmm 8" seems a bit wide on the rolla, 175's look nice on a 7" rim, and tuck well under the guard Quote
irokin Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Stretching tyres is the stupidest thing ever. They design tyres for specific rim sizes (maximums and minimums) and putting them on anything outside the manufacturers recommendations is downright dangerous. On a 9 inch rim you should be running 235s minimum. Quote
Budowski Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 ill be choosing rims soon and so far ive seen 0 offset is pretty close to the stut tube depending on how wide the rim keeps increasing. And yes when a tyre suited to a 7-8 inch wide 0 offset rim will sit closer to the strut than the rim. Maybe a 7 inch rim with 0 off set or a negative off set to pull the rim rolling edge away from any suspension components? most tyre shops will jack up your car and trial fit a generic size <if your serious> and inspect all the charts relating to your car Quote
Pete-ke20 Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I recently got some 15x6 23p offset superlites for my ke20 and i have put 195/50's on them and they only just stay inside the guard and give clearance to the strut, could probably go 7 wide but i don't think i would want to, especially once i lower it a bit. Once you up the offset more neg that pulls the wheels out towards the guard and there aint much clearance there on my ke20 anyways, not sure on how the 30's differ. Stretching is bad The best tyre for the job is the right tyre for the job! Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 dunno if 175's on 7" rims is good, thats what came on the mags when i bought them. think 185 is min for a 7" not too sure. Gunna go google it actually Quote
tas_ae71 Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 how many people here have actually had a tyre come off of a bead? a crazy guy in adaide put a 195/50 onto a 15x10. he drove on them on the street, slide on them etc. i think thats ridicules personally and id never go that extreme for this would put a lot of stress on the tyre. i wouldnt want to bang it and stuff the wheel or worse crash/roll the car. a 175 on a 7" wheel is NOT stretched, its a nice tight slightly undersized but not stretched. i put old use 175's on the back because i just skid them of, i use them until they are bald (not everyday usage when they are this low) and i have never had a problem with them other than the lip of the wheel being exposed so if you hit the gutter when parking etc you will grind the rim. casey stretch doesn't quite effect the body roll it just reduces tyre roll. lower profile and performance orientated tyres will naturally have stiffer side walls than run of the mill big baggy tyres. racing tyre semi/full slicks don't need to be stretched because they have a stiff sidewall for minimum flex as comfort is not a consern. with a 0 offset i would imaging that you wouldn't have inner clearance issues. obviously they will require some guard work, either descent pumping or flares of some sort. 205/50 or (tight fit, not exactly max strech) 195/50 or 55 would be sweet on them. tas_ae71 Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 (edited) these are examples of stretch :S cool but not practical Edited May 17, 2008 by tas_ae71 Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Cool??? I think it looks stupid when the rim sticks out further than the tyre. Quote
