Kid-Ae Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 ca18det in a Corolla = Fun $300 and beer.. Well worth it :hmm: Quote
reddo Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) cheers mate. should be an interesting project! Paid $250 for the whole pulsar, with gtir injectors, H-flow high mount, stuffed crank, and a whole lots of other goodies. :hmm: SO, got a bit board today, so i stripped the sump down, and cleaned all the dead grass out of it (been left on the lawn in a pool of oil), so now awaiting paint before, after, In pink Primer I was also going to roll the rear guards, however, my wheels are very narrow, and i can't see how i can use some pipe to roll it. So ill google it some more, and save that for another day. Because its an auto, i need some pedels, and a master cyl. Anyone one know where i can get hold of some?? Edited May 8, 2008 by reddo Quote
reddo Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 lucked out the other day, when i got the crank ground. all up, $190, for crack test, grind, and all the rest of the boggie because these motors, have issues around oil feed (once the boost is cranked (and this one runs 20psi)), ill be running the bearing a bit looser, and also try and get hold of some race spec ones. But we shall see how we go with that. crank, And, also, decided to clean the block down, ready for a fresh splash of paint. Question How strong is the diff in the back of this car?? will it take 200kws? Your suggestions? Quote
radrollaz Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Looking good mate, as for the diff it'll be lucky to take 100kw through it. Put in bin and get an R31 LSD Borg warner with disks and same stud pattern rear end, modded to fit your Ae71 corolla. :hmm: Quote
reddo Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) Looking good mate, as for the diff it'll be lucky to take 100kw through it. Put in bin and get an R31 LSD Borg warner with disks and same stud pattern rear end, modded to fit your Ae71 corolla. :) cheers. Is the diff out of the early (some) r31's, the same as the rear diff out of a pinny? Because as i understand that, both have the 4 studs? Ah, just found the answer to the above question; ......if you going to the trouble of putting a pintara center in atleast change the center and axles to skyline.would be easier to just pick up a skyline diff. pintara are 25 spline 2 pinion and weaksauce. skyline are 28spline 4 pinion and i've seen em handle 411kw's with only a minispool. Will the rear diff need to be cut down?? (cutting and shutting links, hats, and arms, is easy for me) :hmm: Found a s13 gearbox for a couple of hundred. Hopefully check it out on saturday, and hopefully, its all good ;) Edited May 8, 2008 by reddo Quote
reddo Posted May 18, 2008 Author Report Posted May 18, 2008 mmmkay well got a little bit more done, as i have a couple of days off Painted the whole bottem end up; looking noice in its jet blic Stripped the cam cover down, and even though, i had a bit of a look around to see ig i could get hold of a clear cover (is that possible???) I decided to go with hammer tone, on the majority of the cover, and a small 2 pac black strip. Left it like this so i can get nissyo airbrushed into it  However, No where near as much as Mr Rollabus :y: but just a small amount :P Looked like this All ready to go Stage one stage two black installed anyway, maybe do some more later Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Very sweet man :y: can't wait to see this on the road  Quote
reddo Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) well, got into a few drinks and started to think about the flair on the rear end (once again) what a dissapointment!! I was going to see if i could flair it with the hammer, but it tuns out these isnt a whole lot of metal left there, and whatever is missing, has actually been replaced with platic.... so i got agressive and smashed it all out And this is as far as it has got today Untill a mate came around and i got to try on his 17's. And this has dictated what sort of wheels is going to go onto the car. unfortantly, i don't think i can go for this look because, as soon as those wheels rub onto the guard, the bog will crack and look like chit. SO, going to go down 2 inchs, and ill stick with a 17" wheel thats spaced in from the outer guard. finished the cam cover, and its not to bad lol Edited May 20, 2008 by reddo Quote
reddo Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) hmm, bit more, and slowly working its way foward Filled up the gaps on the boot lid, to stop the rattels (once the sub is put in :P) And give it some strength. and also chucked down some sound deadner, to clean up the flakie paint, and to keep back the surface rust, and another And thats about all for this weekend. Stay tuned for the new gearbox, and hopefully the turbo  jimbob inc. :y: Edited May 20, 2008 by reddo Quote
reddo Posted June 7, 2008 Author Report Posted June 7, 2008 (edited) well, got busy on the weekend, and decided it was time to get a move on, so out came the motor New loom, which i need to cut and wired in Decided to take off the guards (help to get the wiring in, and after i took them off, i cleaned up the bay/guard areas, and i painted it all black, because i can all cleaned up In the picture below, i have two things; 1) took out the std stezza (in the bin :D), and die grinded out a rectangle, so i can mount a flat piece of plastic over it, so i can mount 4 switchs to control fuel pump etc etc 2) My lift pump and vl turbo unit (just waiting on the surge tank) so i can mount it all up Also took 2 and a half hours to drive from one end of the state, to the next, and as a result, i got my new gearbox!!! Took some time tonight to clean it up, so i can throw some paint at it  dirty cleaned up so hopefully get into the loom next weekend and hopefully get the motor into the bay Edited June 7, 2008 by reddo Quote

reddo Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 hehe had a lasher at getting the whole lot in and seeing how it all sorta lines up, and this is what it looks like w00T w00T motor shots gear box is a ca18det box, and as you can see, its about 5cms longer so i reckon ill have to shift the handbrake back, and or go hydro. Didnt need to hit the tunnel as yet, which is wicked!!!! under body shot Quote
