rwdrolla Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 anyone got a lever and cable that they have laying around? i don't really want to pay $25 for one here :) Quote
Jason Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 (edited) Ive looked at how the work very simple, u just need to attach one end to the lever inside the mechanism and the sleeve over the outside bit (you will see what i mean) and run a cable to a lever. g0t bike cable? But I'm sure you could get one from a wrecker? Edited January 14, 2005 by Jason Quote
rwdrolla Posted January 14, 2005 Author Report Posted January 14, 2005 i can get one from a wrecker, for $25 :D hence why i asked if anyone has one... and yes, i have bikes - i race downhill, and i run hydraulics. :) Quote
Jason Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 (edited) down hills fun, but I'm sure u have access to some mechanical (have to be more pacific from now on :) ) got a small butane torch? just solder the wire on to the catch Edited January 14, 2005 by Jason Quote

rwdrolla Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 yay i got the whole boot and fuel cap release leaver and cable setup for $33 from city dismantlers (i devoured the ONLY KE70 CSX they had ) hehe now, i have a question, and a favour to ask, how do i mount the levers in the floor? anyone out there with a csx that can take close up photo of how the lever setup fits to the body of the car? like does it go in from underneath, or in from the top? or what? i'm very confused atm.. Quote
rwdrolla Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 yeah, pic would be awesome. as much as that made sense, I need a lil bit of streamlining to make it a faster job. I've had the entire inteior our before myself, but never looked at the place where the lever goes. does the lever assembly (not the levers themselves) go under the body? I can't see how u would hide all that metal under the carpet... I know i gotta drill the fuel cap funnel for the release catch. - that part is worked out. also.... anyone got some old 13" steelies for sale that look a lil better than my crappy ones? Quote
rwdrolla Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 help! ok, its all in....except the fual cap door thingy how the what the huh??? pics anyone?? someone with a csx, and a camera please take pics of the catch that opens the fuel cap (from the inside of the fuel cap) i have my lock there, do i need to take my lock out? i don't understand how the lil pullrod thingy makes it open.. Help please. Quote
Teddy Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 can't get pics atm - freking rain. Basically the fuel release concept is when u pull the lever up in the drivers area, it pulls the cable ~ putting the lil silver ball shaped thing on the other end of the cable INWARDS. When you open the fuel lid, ull notus the lever on the fuel door (the bit when u turn the key in the fuel lid that moves) latches onto a lil bit of metal on the inside of the fuel inlet area - you have to chop that off - its connected by ONE spot weld... where that spot weld is is where u have to drill a hole big enough for the opposite end of the fuel leaver nob thingie to fit through. Once the hole is made, you thread the cable in and stick the end in throught the hole and tighten with a nut from inside the boot area. Now, the fuel lid connects to the body of the corolla with 2x 10mm nuts. Inbetween the nuts is a lil area where a springie plastic clip clips into (on the CSX / XX Ke70/Ae71/T18). The basic concept is when you close the fuel door, it compacts this lil plastic clip thingie, so when you pull the lever up in the cabin, it pulls the cable ~ pulling the lil nob on the other end into the plastic, relaseing the flap and letting the plastic clip expand flinging the fuel door open ! Hope it makes sence ! Quote
rwdrolla Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 sorry, i think i'll still need pics i have a lock on my fuel cap door, and the door is held on by hinges, i'll take a pic , and u guys can photoshop it or whatever Quote
