Here are a few pics of the motor being assembled.

 

THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE:

 

crank has been nightrided and balanced.

 

pistons and conrods have all ben balanced

 

flywheel lightened(7kg) and balanced with crank and front pully.

 

block has been bored 40 thou / decked 15 thou and had all mold castings ground and polished on the inside.

 

cam has been reground by wade camshafts to the profile of 169x

 

head, has been shaved 10 thou bigger inlet valves out of datsun, twin valve springs, valve's and valve seats have all been tripple cut.

inlet and exaust ports have been opened up and flowed, and portmatched ilet mainfold and extractors.

 

modified sump

 

electronic dizzy

 

looking into fitting quad 900cc kawasaki carby's???? (any sujestions)

 

note: have engine out of race car still on engine stand thats why this is being put together on a milk crate

Sweet jesus, nitrided crank is pretty serious; what did that cost you? Whats your engine build cost you so far?

Not sure on all the costs yet get bill on friday and also a heavy duty clutch and presure plate. still trying to work out what to do about carbys?????

Where did you get your extractors from ?

Hey thanks Doogs, and i got the extractors from an exhaust center in swan hill was going to cost me $260 for them to make me a set but then he had a look in there stock and turned out they had these ones sitting in there so i got them for $100

got brand new kawasaki quad carbs last nigt now just working out the manifold and everything should nearly be ready to go :P

 

I finally got a chance to see this thread nice build!!!

I don't think my su`s would work too well as they are only 1 1/2" and wont supply enough air over 6000rpm. That solex would prob do the trick though.

This quad carb setup would be sick!!! Are they a flat slide carb!! I have been thinking about a quad flat slide setup for a 3k. Would make power upto 10,000rpm id think. :D

What are the rest of the cam specs?

I reckon Honda S600/S800s run quad flatside Keihins. I'd take a look under the bonnet of one of those, looks like a Bike 4Cyl in the engine bay.

 

Chain drive rear as well.

thanks stu um the rest of the cam specs are as follows.

 

cam lift/ duration adv/ duration @050/ valve clr/ valve lift/ cam lift tdc/ phase<)

INTAKE 0.268 276. 218 0.009 0.393 5.868 107

EXHAUST 0.268 278. 218.5 0.009 0.393 0.048

 

and yeah I'm going with the quads manifold is getting built as we speak.

 

also here are some pics of carbys and new clutch and pressure plate.
