Hey all,

Was hoping for some help from the pro's

Ive been noticing a few different noises in the KE70.

1) When i take off under any load, so anything other than an absolute granny take off, i get a lot of shuddering. My initial thought is that it is the clutch plate. I do get a bit of slip when doing hard shifts - thoughts?

2) When i engage the clutch, i get a clunking sound from the rear of the car, I'm thinking either uni or Diff... any thoughts?

3) The car vibrates a bit under load too... its not a wheel issue even though i don't know the last time the 95yo previous owner balanced them, i'm familiar with that kind of vibration, this feels as though the tailshaft isnt spinning true. Is it possible for a tailshaft to bow? or could this be the issue of the clutch, or perhaps a diff.

Fellas it's been over 10 years since ive owned a rear wheel drive car, so be nice, I'm just trying to familiarise myself with these cars as much as possible, any help is much appreciated.

I would think your right, with the clutch.

I had the same problem once. the clutch was so worn the brass pins where rubbing and chatching.

I replaced the clutch and flywheel.

as for the clunk on the rear, it could be so many things. I had a clunk that came from my pan hard rod

The best thing to do is jack up the ass end and move stuff by hand and see if you can id the problem.

well i had a wheel alignment just then, and turns out the guy was a toyota nut, he wouldnt bloody let me leave!

the tailshaft is in excellent condition, but he said the clutch is defintely causing the take of shudder, but he can't make sense of the under load vibration on take off...
