Hey guys, bought this last week off my mate who purchased it off the original owner two months ago. Technically it is a three owner then but oh well :hmm:

The grandpa was buying a new Corolla and was gonna use this as trade in, but they only offered him $300. so my mate made an offer and subsequently bought it.

Its a 1974 KE20 SE Corolla, the luxo pack hehe. Has an 'awesome' Sanyo am radio/cassette player with Sanyo speakers in the rear trims. Has 67,000km on the clock.

Stock 3k, 4 speed, runs well now.

Interior is near immaculate minus torn drivers seat, and a crack in the dash pad, and torn gear boot. Has all tools including little case in great condition. Exterior isn't the best, paint, being all original is slightly faded and not the best, has a bit of rust behind the rear wheels, passengers door, and in both front guards and inner guard panels.

Spent all of last week degreasing, cleaning and polishing every inch of the car. After all the work she really does look alot neater and is actaully now all orange. I have put my sunvisor on, still awaiting venetians, got 1.5 inch lowering blocks from Outlaws, 2 inch whitewalls next Friday.

Having not been driven for a while it needed a bit of attention, gave her a good tune, as she was running rich as. Got new front tyres, tie rod end was stuffed, so fitted a new one, have new radiator on order, should be fited next week as the one in there is corroding due to age and leaking haha.

Don't really know what else to say, I'm just dailying it for now, maye take the rust out and give it a respray in the future.

If anyone is wrecking a KE20 I need both inner front guards (between the actual guard and tub).

I'll get pics up asap.

Cheers, Ben.

Yeah my '73' ke20 SE came with the sanyo radio/cassette player and sanyo speakers in the rear aswell.

I have recently fitted a cd player into the same spot and also found that there had been some butchery going on back in the day.

I think the original radio looks a lot more neater and original then the cassette player.

$300!!! damn scam artists. They would clean it up and turn around and sell it for 5G the next day!

Cheers guys.

My mate bought it with the intention of repairing rust, full respray and chucking a rotor in it.

I'm glad he didn't as the car is hell original, even if it isn't the best condition.

Hopefully will have pics up early next week, as my comps fixed now.

Cheers, Ben

Forgot to mention I obviously gave all the plastic trims a coat of paint. Just got wheel silver.

Will put up up photos showing the bad parts later.

Yeah my old one was definitely a lot better. No doubt about that. I miss it alot, but I did sell that to get a 5L V8 pimper lol. This is just my daily for the moment.

But I sold my old one for over $3000, where as I scored this for less than half. I won't say how much less.

She has a bit of rust as mentioned, will get pics up of rust tomorrow. If I was to repair it, I'd probably just get two front guards lol.

Has a terrible sounding rattle in the engine, thought it might be the tappets, but using a screwdriver to listen to everything around the engine I suspect distributor now maybe, as that's where its loudest.

Will have a look at that tomorrow if I get a chance, for now she runs fine, is very reliable, just have to fill up the radiator every few days until I get a new one. Gotta love the 4 spd manual as well, very different to the 5 spd in my old one.

Cheers, Ben.

Well I had a good night last night.

On the way home from work my instrument backlight went out, when I arrived home I found that my taillights were also out, brake lights, indicators and reverse lights work, but no taillights.

Also my drivers window is now stuck open about 3 inches lol. They windows were opening and closing like a brand new car, now its jammed.

Guessing the lights is just a fuse or something, will have a look when its not raining out there.

Have no idea about the window, guess I'll have to take the door trim off and have a look when its not raining. Damn rain!

Anyone in Adelaide got one of the tools to take the window winder off?
