The first thing to do is degrease the crap out of it, and see where it is coming from (roughly) If it's coming from between the box and engine, it'll be a rear main seal. (Annoying time consuming fix.) Around the front pulley it'll be a front crank seal. (Easier, but the big nut on the front can be a bastard..... more on that if you need it.) Another common place is around the spark plug tubes. They may require..... ummmm... adjusting. Once again, call us back if it's that one.

They seem to be the usual culprits. If there's decent sized puddles, I'll place my bet now on a rear main.

Hmm don't know. it sounds a little like the leak mine has. But mine is from the dizzy hole (needs a new o-ring which we don't seem to have in the right size) and it leaves a puddle about the same size after you stop until the oil gets back to the sump. but yours seems to be going through alot more oil.

Does the head have oil on it aswell? or just the block?

just the block... i reakon tomorrow I'm gonna degresse it AGAIN n drive it then sus it out a bit further??

where can i buy seals from?? and could i do this my self??

:hmm:

well if you had all the tools to do it and a little know how on a k motor i see why not. i did my k motor on a engine crain but that wasnt for an oil leak, it was for the whole seal set and rings and that was my first motor and it still went hard.

I'm from adelaid and at U-PULL IT you can get any carb whole 4cldr motor for $200 :y: if you don't want to wast your time but 5k parts are more costly than a 3or4 k keep in mind.

up too you now. :hmm:

New seals are nice but try this first....

Get your spark plug tubes out and you will probably note that the top flange is no longer at 90 degrees, due to years of gorillas doing them up.

The tubes are made of fairly soft Aluminium, so get a small hammer and taparound the top flange so that it's just over 90deg. Maybe put a little petroleum jelly around the o-ring if you haven't already got newies (avail from places like Repco). Nip them up, but don't over tighten.

It may also pay to give the bases a bit of a tap if they're looking a bit ordinary, to square them up as well.

hey guys i got it all degressed.. $15 later the major oil leak fixed... it was the oil pressure switch..

but i also noticed that there was a little oil leaking from here. unsure what it is or how to fix it...

any info would be sweet,

cheers

Fuel Pump - easy.

Undo the 2 nuts and the fuel lines. Pump will just pop out easy enough. Might have a phenolic resin spacer between the pump and the block, which may be cracked and leaking, etc. You could make a gasket up using standard gasket paper, or you could just put a neat smear of gasket goo (Silicon) on the faces, and do it all up nice and tight and she'll be fine.

Make sure you clean all the surfaces up before you use silicon etc.

Yep could be that-

Or it could be leaking out of the vent holes in the base of the fuel pump. If oil is coming from the vent holes it means the seal in the fuel pump on the operating lever is stuffed. If this is the case, you either need a fuel pump kit or a new pump. I've had this happen recently.
