Pure-SX Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Andrew, learn to read. Nothing off the shelf from exedy/xtreme that would last for long. Already found a twin plate, just investigating other alternatives. Quote
ancullen Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 I'm hoping my Xtreme heavy duty clutch will last at least for the Rejex. I've just gone for the most basic heavy duty option. I'll be glad to be rid of the rattling ORC clutch. I'll just have to be careful about my launches - maybe won't do a 7,000rpm launch on every course. :S Quote
wasfishing Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I'm gunna laugh if it dies lol t1rs are a cool tyre Quote
ancullen Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 I will hunt you down if the clutch dies - just for giving the negative energy. Not cool dude, not cool. :S Quote
wasfishing Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 not my fault u put the wrong clutch in :S Quote
ancullen Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 It's the right clutch for me - sort of. I do like the idea of being able to do redline launches, but I know I shouldn't. I'm more interested in day-to-day driveability, smoothness, and not having a shit sounding rattle. BTW, I drove past the repairer's workshop today at about lunch time. The bonnet was up, which is a good sign, as they had previously said they wouldn't be able to start work on it until tomorrow. Should help it be ready on Friday. Quote
Pure-SX Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Oii Bazza wtf is this pretty little blue car here? Well smeg me Jimbo I dunno mate. Lets pop that there bonnet to see what is it? Who are you getting to do the clutch again Adam? Going to get a few names together and call around to see approx how much for a clutch swap/flywheel machine. Quote
ancullen Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 LOL!!! You only needed a "H'yuck" in there to top off that little conversation. I can actually imagine it happening at many workshops around Darwin. Phil Kerr Service Centre is changing the clutch. Quote
Pure-SX Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Fair enough, Phil Kerr was one of the names on my list I can imagine the levin Whats this thar here corolla with 2 doors? H'yuck it has all dem shiny fings in dat dar engine hole thing. Quote
ae174agze Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 you know Phil Kerr has a supercharged v8 ute that has like 400kws or some shit massive like that adam whats it costing you to get clutch and install it Quote
ancullen Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 H'yuck it has all dem shiny fings in dat dar engine hole thing. Much better. :bash: The clutch is costing me about $510. Installation is $90/hour and I've been given estimates of about 8-10 hours to do the work by GT-Four specialists. Estimating as much as $1,400. Hoping it's more like $1,000. Quote
Pure-SX Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 1000 OMFG Shit, thats gotta suck, I am budgeting around 500 for the levin for labour for a clutch swap hopefully :bash: Quote
ancullen Posted July 31, 2008 Author Report Posted July 31, 2008 The Levin should be a lot quicker to change than the GT-Four. The GT-Four is a whole engine & gearbox out job, whereas I'm pretty certain the Levin can be done with the engine in the car. Quote
wasfishing Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 adam is rite levin is box out job shoudl cost about 500-700 in labour Quote
ae174agze Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 or you get a rite wheel drive car and a torque wrench and only pay for the clutch ahahaha Quote
